Title: Guardian
Name: Ms,Shatia Hamilton
Country: USA
Software: Painter, Photoshop

This was my b-day gift to myself. I started this ... back in March, I think and just never got to finish it. Finally got to. This is a character in my full color fantasy comic that I'm working on. He's General of the Haven Knight. That's armor he's wearing. It's called the Ivory Idol. It's organic and works much like a parasite.

I'm still not sure this will be the FINAL design for it because I'm still learning how to draw armor and things. I'm a bit lacking in the weapons and metal department and I tend to lean more towards the organic, so I get to play with the best of both worlds with this design.

That's really nice; I just love how you colored it, and the flowyness of everything.. the wings, the branch things, the hair.. :D!

Nice artwork. I really like the hands, face, and hair. The muscles kind of bother me though, they don't seem to have much dimension to them. Good overall piece.

Very lovely work, nice colours and composition! Something about the anatomy of his arm bothers me though. Nice painting anyways!
4 stars

Thanks you guys :D.

His body is pretty stylized. I had it really 'normal' at first and that was boring to me so I elongated his torso and made him seem leaner but bulkier/knobbier than is natural. It made for a pretty interesting look but I figure a 'beautiful' Fae man wouldn't be built quite like a human. Know what I mean?

I was wondering about the torso...thanks for explaining that. I really like the render. Everything seems really good. The arm is kind of funky but it doesn't subtract from the piece at all!

I've come back to this one a couple of times now since it was posted. There's just something very appealing about the character, the pose, the expression, etc. Perhaps the only thing that stuck out a bit for me was the colouring on the face. To me it seemed rather dark and stood out a little when compared to the overall colouring of the piece. Still, a nicely done picture. I hope you post with more characters from your comic in the future.

Thank you. It makes me feel really accomplished that I made you look not once, but a few times.

This confuses me a bit though: Perhaps the only thing that stuck out a bit for me was the colouring on the face. To me it seemed rather dark and stood out a little when compared to the overall colouring of the piece.

His skin is supposed to clash with the white of his armor. As far as this seeming 'rather dark' I don't know what to tell you. He's black so making him lighter would defeat the purpose of him being dark skinned. Anything next to white that's not white would seem dark though. LOL.

Thank you again for your words :D.
