Hi,
I am new to Rhino and I am going to learn it by myself. My school does not offer this kind of classes and all I can do is rely on internet. I searched on goolge and found a lot of tutorials on other 3d modeling software compares to Rhino's. So I am thinking buying the DVDs from Hydraulic Design. It has three sets and has anyone using it before? Does it help you to learn modeling more efficient? Should I order all of them? Or should I just follow the Level 1 and 2 manuel that comes with Rhino? Thank you.

www.rhino3d.com (http://www.rhino3d.com) should have a lot of tutorials .Also note the tutorials link thread in this forum.

I think the dvds would help if you have the money that is.The training manuals are not bad but are definatly not as fun as trying to make something from scratch - which is how i learned most of my skills. Were also here to help you out if your stuck.

...well...

the thing is; they might be a bit of a overkill. Yes, you might learn Rhino faster, but then again, you dont need it, and it might lead you into using a spesial way of doing things, instead of letting you find out the hard way. This can be a good thing, but its a great thing, to know why you use diffrent functions at diffrent times.. why diffrent tecks are the best ect. Im sure the DVD's are great, but I whouldnt recomand them to anyone, Rhino is so easy to learn by yourself, they might just confuse you... and you have a ton of free tuts, helpfiles ect.

Do as you wish, IM not against them in any way, but dont think you need them....

I agree with Pureblizz. Personally I use several different modelling packages and have taught myself 90% of what I know through tutorials I have found on the net or pouring through manuals.

So watching a VTM or video tutorial is tenfold better than a tutorial on paper... imo. Maybe I just prefer to learn by seeing someone else doing it infront of me. But when money comes in the equation there is no reason why paper tutorial can't sufice. It really depend on the quality of the tutorial - either way you are going to learn.

I would recommend putting the DVD's on hold. If you can't seem to find detailed, long, thorough tutorials online then the DVD's will definetly help. Thats what I am trying to achieve with this collab tutorial... something detailed that everyone will get something out of.

Have you posted what you would want to see in a tutorial in the thread?

Thank you for all the advice!
I've decided not to buy it, I met people on rhino's irc channel and found several car tutorials. It should be plenty for me to learn from those, yes, and the collab tutorial. Well, I posted about getting rhino into maya and do a simple render in the collab thread.
