Title: Flying City
Name: Cesar Rafael Rizo
Country: Germany
Software: Photoshop

Hello everyone, i made this piece as a metal nap from the current project that I'm working on. I took some inspiration of french castles and LOTR of course , i wanted to explored the deep of a huge city, and i thought that make a floating city would be cool. For the color palete of the city i took reference of these Toscan towns in Italy. The original wide is 3800 Pixels so a few details got lost like robes hanging from the city...
Critics and comments are welcome.

Very well done, my only crit is that the bckgd is not as strong as your concept. But still a great piece.

Hi!
As a fan of architecture, I am very impressed by your image...
The sense of big scale is very present.
You have done a real good job on lighting too..
I agree about the background, but the concept in the foreground is so huge that it's not really a problem for me..

I love the detail in this piece. I wouldn't mind seeing the process of creating this work.

Strong 3d in 2d:thumbsup:

Awesome stuff! I'm always fascinated by the details some concept artists put into their work, so I have to ask you perhaps a silly question: have you painted each of those windows and support beams, or are there some tricks to it?

Hello everyone and thanks for your comments, well Gmax about the details, the beams were painted individually but the windows, i just made a flat or frontal grid of windows in a separate layer, duplicated and set it in place using Transform/Distort tool, and erase the windows that you don't like :P i hope this is usefull for you too :)

I very much like the idea and the perspective angle. Beautiful image > looks very massive.

but maybe the textures and especially the lightning could be a wee bit more dramatic. This would increase atmosphere.

best wishes

Wow! That is one wicked concept. I really like the idea of a floating city. The only gripe is the lighting, I think you could punch it up a bit more to make it more dramitic (like others said).
