Hi guys!

Yup, these pictures are mighty cool!

-BUT! -Am I the only one who thinks it's a hoax? I think it's fan art...

I think there's too much "look, I can draw Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush", and not enough "how are we gonne make these designs look". The only picture I think looks credible is the picture of the pirates below the water... To my knowledge, art design is done in pre-production, before casting, and art designers are not supposed to worry about who's playing who...

This is merely my theory. :)

Cheers,

this is true....but this movie is an example of mass produced hollywood trash..........and the actors were picked before the script was written....so i could see it being possible that the art dept was given the heads up on who to draw into the concepts.

This is just my opinion but I do not believe the movie is an example of trash that is created by hollywood. Hollywood is constantly developing crap that makes me wonder what they were thinking but I think Pirates of the Carribbean is a movie that needs to be made and the people they have picked thus far are perfect for their parts. Granted, they may have been picked before the concept art was done but so what! :shame: :airguitar

Well, I's a Jerry Pruckheimer film, so it's definately "mass produced Hollywood SOMETHING", but not necessarily crap... He doesn't exactly strike gold every time, but he HAS made "some" good movies... :)

Anyway, even if the cast were selected before the art design started (which I don't think they would be, even if this IS mass produced Hollywood crap), I still see no reason why the art designers should spend precious time doing portraits of the actors, rather than work on actual designs.

Still, just my theory! ;)

I hear you...anything is possible and I agree that it makes more since that an artist in this since would spend more time on design and less time on likeness unless there was a reason.

He's producing. It says so in the IMDb, the official teaser trailer, the poster, etc... ;)

I personally have a love/hate relationship to Bruckheimer's films... (warning: opionions coming up! :)) I love The Rock... Top Gun is cool in an 80'es way... Con Air was dumb in a fun way... Bad boys was fun... Flashdance (yup, it's Bruckheimer!) was actually a good movie... Beverly Hills Cop is fun... Crimson Tide is allright... Enemy of the State wasn't bad... Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and Bad Company all stink. Black Hawk Down was OK... so I'll definately give "pirates" a chance! :)

I haven't seen Mexican og the american Ring yet, tho.

Ahoy mate, we are heading in to OT waters!

Anyway the topic is fun.

For some reason Bruckheimer is one hell of a TV producer.
CSI
CSI Miami
The Amazing Race
Without a Trace

All of them are very good shows.

Sometimes I wonder if he has an evil twin that is a bad movie producer. You know the producer of that epic, that is now in theathers, called Kangaroo Jack.

omg, he is listed as a producer.....dear lord please help us!!!!!

ok, well thats secures it....this movie will blow chunks!!! Jerry Bruckheimer is the KING of hollywood crap!!!!! Second only to Paul Verhoven!!!!! These are the 2 big names that are wrong with hollywood......making more and more mindless popcorn movies that revel in bending factual accounts to add in explosions and making the same exact formulated movies OVER AND OVER AND OVER!

I tend to stay away from their movies like the plague!!!!!

Barbie and Ken dolls in action movies.....what a waste of celluloid!!!!!!

-After the release of this clip (http://bvbp-qt.sitestream.com/PiratesOfCaribbean/PiratesOfTheCaribbean_Corset_1500.mov) I must admit that at least the picture of Geoffrey Rush half faded into a sceleton, is in fact pretty dang authentic!

Alright...my take on the whole damned thing.

Pirates looks like it's gonna be a "FUN" movie..not some serious epic that the geekboys will come out and scrutinize every moment that it's on the screen. Although I don't like alot of J.B's films, he does have others that are well done. Black Hawk Down was an exceptional movie. Bad Boys is still one of my favorites. Beverly Hills Cop...I mean come on..that's funny stuff. Now, Armageddon and Pearl Harbor weren't the best of movies by far and I didn't like them. But because of the MOVIE..not because I didn't like the Producer...it's hit or miss and it's not just HIM.
I agree that I love the T.V shows he produces, CSI and Without A Trace are 2 very good back to back hours of my Thursday evenings. So, not everything he touches turns to crap. Besides, if you don't like him and don't want to see his stuff...DON'T...no point spending time arguing about it here. Suck it up and just keep your bitching to yourself.
