I thought I better jump in.

Here is a short movie I've been working on. It's by no means finished. I just thought I'd better throw it out there. I'm aware of the massive animation glitches such as moonwalking army, and poor jump and land motion. Lots of glitches, but it's a start. Also no effects like dust yet.

All Gorih are dayblind so they are very pale and there eyes are "whited over". They usually wear blankets on there faces to hide from the light should they be exposed to it. The Gurih are valued as ruthless villains by the Dark Lord. Though they are hard to manage because they refuse to fight or march during the day.

There is a clan of Gorih who has a wizard fallow them around
middle earth casting a constant cloud overhead darkening the land beneath. These Gorih are free to cause mayhem even during day. Thanks to this wizard and the "Deathcloud".

They are similar to a packrat in that they will remain on the battlefield and collect trophies of any kind. They are demoralizing to the enemy because they carry disease and have no regard for honor.

Like very much the sketch, and the description is cool... good work!

mmmhh, how are you going to make the fur?

smfjersey
01-14-2003, 09:58 PM
Ya,..good question on the fur thing. I sketched him before fur plug-ins were outlawed. I'm trying to figure out what to do myself. If not then I guess he will be the "great bald one"

Looks great, what software is it in? As far as the fur goes, I'm dealing with the same issue. I'm think of doing some kind of procedural to play with the light then model the "major" aspects of the fur. I'm going to wait until I have everything else done before I do the fur modeling so I can save it as another version to do fur texturing for the portfolio.

dude are you modeling a Scaven? It looks really cool. Scavens were this bread of rat like creature in Blood bowl and many other lead based miniatures games. that guy looks rad...nice job...

Hey Hickory2.5,
It's been awhile. Hows it going dude? are you in this challenge?

I don't think I've ever heard of a scaven. I'll look it up.

Your texture work is amazing, but there was definately something appealing about the gray scale version; perhaps try desaturating the tones a bit and making a good bump and spec map for it! Living mainly in the dark, he ought to be pretty pale, some scars, cuts, ect. would help in telling his story as well. Maybe some primitive branding?

Cool rat beast.I think it will be cool to see him in a proper pose later on. I like the look and the textures as well, but I agree with Rhid1en gray scale version and a pale skin would have been better. But it's a wip anyways,so keep up the good work.

I've been working on rigging and animations which won't do any good for the challenge but I think it's a must. Here's where I've landed so far. Won't apply fur till the animations are done. I'm currently building a giant orc army and animating them for the background.

Looks like fur is out. I won't be able to get a good plug in time. I'm going to revisit textures and model. This is by no means the pose I will be using for the contest. It's a crop of a shot from the little movie I've been making.

coCoKNIght

It surely looks great! You don't even need fur, it's already so cool!

skaven (http://www.games-workshop.com/warhammerworld/warhammer/skaven/SK-artwork/default.htm)

you could have at least come up with a new race, instead of ripping off the skaven (a race of rat men, in the popular table-tob game Warhammer).

Still, a nice model.

I have seen the picture of the skaven on the lower left before. There is no doubt that is the influence. Hickory2.5 helped my efforts in finding this resource. I am however surprised and impressed with the amount and quality of "Skaven" art. The hood thing was for sure an influence because I added it after I learned about skaven.
