View Full Version : Clipping Plane Issue
SNARK 06-25-2006, 04:34 PM Hi.
I've exported an .mb mesh into it's own file but it is invisible. If I click the camera compass I can see it and the grid for a second as it repositions and then it is invisible again. If I 'Select All' then press the 'F' key nothing happens. Is this a clipping plane issue? I have not had this problem before. I would like to use the Attribute editor to adjust some numbers but that requires selecting the mesh which is invisible and Ctrl-A isn't selecting it.
Thanks!

Have you tried to use the outliner to select it? Or maybe you turned something of in your viewport? Try view all in your viewport

Hi, Okke.
View all is selected. I've tried Rectangle Select and all the selection tricks I know (probably not many) but I am not sure what you mean by 'outliner'. I'm using Maya 7.
Thanks for the response.

Outliner - a window that gives you info about objects in your scene. Similar to the hypergraph. Both are in the diplay menu I believe. Don't have Maya near me.
The outliner gives you a good overview of al the objects in your scene. I think it is in the window or view tab, don't have maya near me too :)

Have u got different unit settings in preference to the imported file? Like foot, centimeter...check that and change it.
Or select the camera in the panel and ctrl a, u can change the near and far clipping to say, 0.01 and 2000. Should be able to see the grid now.

yeah i get this problem everytime i create a new file.
i have to go into the camera attirbutes and set my clipping plane values to 0.01 and 10000. i guess these values change depending on your unit setup.
even if i go into Maya preferences and manually set my clipping plane values, it awlays ends up reverting to the original settings. i guess its a bug in Maya.
