HELP PLEASE!! vert welding problem

Is the object you are trying to weld an instance? If so, you have to hit the "Make Unique" button first. It's also possible that you model is so large(in Max space) that no number you can put in will weld them...but that is not common.

Give us abit more info on how you are trying to weld them, and what your objects are like, and we can help you further.

sorry, been out of town. where is the make unique button? i've searched all over for it...

It's in the modifier stack third from the left(2 over from the icon with the thumbtack). It looks like 2 arrows pointing at a circle. "Make Unique".

instead of searching for a "make unique" button, just delete the cloned half, make sure that the original has editable mesh as the only thing in its stack, and then just copy it and do an attach...and weld away...

But why?

The "Make Unique" button is an important one to locate...I mean, REALLY important.
