Heya,
Is there a particular reason you're using the Gradient Ramp map ?
I think a regular Falloff map should work there ? Would render a bit faster.. gradient ramp is a fairly slow map to evaluate.

Hey thanks for that mini-tut. Been trying to get a good gold texture for a while now. I translated it into finalRender material if anyone is interested I can give the slight changes needed to get the same look in fR.

AHHH!!!
I'm using Lightwave.
Uh well.
I tried translating some of the settings.
Came out OK.
Not as good as your one ring.

i don't know why but when i make this material it just looks like mucky brown coffee with a hint of orange or something.

Lazorwolf, are you just looking at the material preview or actually applying it to an object? Also, you need a good scene to stick it in. Like any reflective material. The environment it's reflecting is important also. Try using a HDRI image in the environment map slot to give it something to reflect and light the scene nicely.

Yes... it looks.... but it needs scene to reflect.... so try use HDRI and add white illuminative panels over it...
Im not sure did you understand me....

I know this has been QUITE some time ago, and I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, however, I would like to see these pictures, since I'm working on some gold material myself, and the results so far are O.K., but not good, so, if anyone should have these pictures, or would happen to know what to do to achieve this great result, please either post here, or PM me.
Thanks in advance :)
