I have to rig a model for an animation using no more than 20 bones. I'd like to use biped beacuse it's already linked. I noticed though, when I select all, the default biped has 30 objects. So I reduced all of the links in the structure rollout as low as they could go, and when I select all there are still 21 objects.

My question goes two ways:
1. Is the center of mass considered a bone? (If it is not, then I will have answered the second question.)

2.If the center of mass is considered a bone, how can I further reduce the number of bones in the biped?

My ultimate goal is to avoid rigging the model with a custom bone structure. I have very little time to complete the animation, so please respond as soon as possible.

My first question is, why are you limited to only 20 bone? and to answer your question, the center of mass should not be considered as a bone object. It is more like a controller for the hip. I am sure someone would disagree with me, but that's just what I think. To me, bone object are what you use for your skin.
