Jurenic 01-14-2003, 07:10 PM Hey all. I am really egier to know what is your preffered method of modeling between the two. Please specify some examples advantages disadvantages and/or images. I can't seem to decide what method to use on my car project.

Here's a neat idea. Use both!
Splines have the distinct advantage of being..well..splines. They are easy to place, very precise, and more visually understandable(in some cases) than polys. Especially if you are using a background image.
Polys rock for almost everything else. Editing, tweaking, smoothing, etc. The mere fact that polys allow you to work on a lowpoly cage then smooth it later(even at render only) makes them the best method overall.
Here's the cool part.
Start out with splines, and once you get them looking the way you want, convert them to editable polys(Using a zero for the iterations). This way, you have the best of both worlds.
Hope that's of some help. This is a very good tecnique to use when modeling a car.
Best of luck to you.
