Beautiful work, I can see why they hired you. One thing, there appears to be a placeholder poster in one of the shots that says "Some Japanese text here", oh and... are those Godzilla posters in the parking lot? :scream:

"Some Japanese text here"
I didnt see it until you mentioned it.:scream:
Very nice work!
Congrats from me!
I always wanted to build a city like that.
But i am stuck to my UnrealEd somehow...trying
to design some realistic stuff.
Thumbs up again!

Litterally, just yesterday I was looking at the ND website and thinking "man, if this guy isn't already working professionally...he should be".
Congrats! :)

I personally don't trust ND because it's vaporware. Graphically it's looking decent, but...the rest just makes me want to vomit.

CyanideCotdPnuts: To be fair all mods are vapourware until proven otherwise. It's somewhat hypocritical of you to make that comment when 'Epidemic', your own mod is still unreleased.
Personally I think people who work on different mods should be supportive of each other, whether it looks like a project will be released or not. All those wiki tutorials and export tools usually come from people working on different mods, so it helps the modding community as a whole to have other people working on different stuff.
Even if a promising mod never gets released, at least you'll have had some nice eye candy through it's development, and it will have been a good proving ground for the aspiring artists and programmers who worked on the mod to then move on to professional game development and use those skills on retail projects which you might enjoy more.

First of all, I am not working on that project anymore. Second of all, you failed to thoroughly read what I said. I said it's graphically sound, but it's not a good example to use when so much notoriety surrounds the project.
And also for the record, I think you misunderstand the context of how I'm using the word "vaporware".Maybe this article will help elaborate.

I did read what you said thoroughly and I don't see how I read "vaporware", out of context. I read it bearing in mind the definition (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=vaporware) of the word.
About that article: The conclusions that the author draws are entirely valid and i'll go even further and confirm that his comments are true. The hud emelents on both the first person and rts views have been photoshopped onto screenshots. Equally, while I can't confirm for sure that those models are in static poses, it wouldn't surprise me because i've seen another old build of the japan map which used a few static characters in the subway section.
What surprises me is that you see this as some major crime. Using projections of what a game will look like as PR material is par for the course in the games industry. Nuclear Dawn is an in-development mod and as such some things will be finished and other will not. The magazine that printed the article asked for screenshots and in particular they wanted to see both the fps and rts sides of the game. At the time the finalized hud graphics hadn't been implemented, so the ND team used HUD concepts as overlays, as that's what the hud will look like once those graphics are implemented.
The other thing that surprises me is that you assume that these screenshot alterations mean that the whole project is vaporware. Static poses are used on some screenshots simply because it's easier for mappers to take the screenshots without having to get a bunch of other guys together for a network game. You shouldn't assume that because static poses were used the characters for the mod havent been animated yet. I know that they've been animated because I did the animations on them. Equally you shouldn't assume that because the HUD graphics aren't in place that those aspects of the game don't work. For example the RTS side of the game works a treat, it just looked ugly as hell at the time because it's still work in progress.
Maybe ND will get released and will live up to it's promise. Maybe it'll get released and it'll suck ass. Maybe it won't get released at all. Who knows? All I can say is that at the time I left the mod it was well on track, and that you shouldn't read too much into the odd HUD overlay, or two.
Apologies to Sa74n for going off on a tangent. Hopefully we can all get back to congratulating him on being awesome, so if anyone has any replies to this then i'll be happy to read them and follow them up in a seperate thread or through PM's.

Headless, you really shouldn't take the troll's bait so easily.
I do have to agree with you though. My personal opinion is that anytime a fellow modder makes the jump, its a benefit to us all. The same thing applies to mods, each quality (hell, even sub-quality) mod released benefits the entire community. The problem is that those less mature tend to view mods and mod teams as schoolchildren social clubs.

dan. thats perfectly fine with me :) if anyone has doubts about ND having unanimated playermodels simply didnt do their homework. there are lots of screenshots on the ND website that show them in action.
thanks for all the kind comments :) i will arrive in london on sunday.

Congrats! You've got some great stuff there.
We lost one of our prized concept artists due to his work for us. Unfortunately, his contract has a no-compete clause so he can't work for us any longer.
