View Full Version : Using Maya On Mac OSX

Hi
I am new to this forum, so I may have missed out stuff about this posted before- but I try a new one.
We have planned to by a Maya lisence for MAc OsX, but found a list on the wavefront site with tons of bugs in this version.
Is this a valid list?

Do anybody out there, have some experience in using Maya on mac Os?

I've been using Maya on OSX for a long while now and I got to tell you that Maya is one of the smoothes running apps under OSX! You will literally be blown away on how well its been optimized. The main thing you need to understand is that in order to get this kind of performance, you should not be a "upgrade happy" kind of person. Don't just run the "software upgrade" because its available. Maya is very picking about what version of the software its running on, inorder to get this kind of optimization. I believe that Maya 4.5 does not run under Mac OS X 10.2.3. When Alias|Wavefront says its "certified", its for a reason.

You will not be dissapointed w/Maya 4.5 on OSX as long as you have a fast G4, with a top of the line graphics card, and stick with a certified version of the system software. Maya 4.5 runs great under Mac OS X 10.2.2

Maya 4.5 ROCKS on the mac. Heed SirRender's advice. Read ALL of the qualification charts on the a|w site before you spend a cent. The only limitation i've run into is that alot of the scripts that you can download (highend3d.com) are usually written for NT & others, and may not work.
Other than that, it's a beautiful thing.
