View Full Version : refraction artifacts

help please...

I work in Softimage 3DSP2 with mental ray. All I have in scene is glass and water, and I get those nasty black areas all over it. Everything that has some refraction, without which I can't do anything, has that black artifacts. I tried everything, there is no black in scene, no light did help, glass shader smooth it a bit, but not enough.

Is there a way, did I forgot something, I made glass many times and I don't recal havig this problem...

Any help is greatly apprechiated!

Ray Depth, reflected, refracted and sum of it...
It will increase rendering time, but that is is what causes the "artifact". Ray gets nothing to bounce from and nothing is black...

As you all can see I answerd myself, I hate when I search for something and get just an quastion somebody posted...
