The Senior Compositor must have a professional demo reel that shows extensive ability to solve complex compositing problems. It is extremely helpful if each shot shows at least "before" and "after" versions, if not more explicit layer build-ups. He/She must be able to work closely with lighters and matte painters to finish shots so that computer generated elements are seamlessly integrated with live-action plates. He/She must deal with integrating separate live-action and computer-generated elements; blue/green screen pulls; balancing and sometimes creating shadow elements; adjusting color and contrast for final output; wire, rig removal; dust-busting; morphs; wipes and reveals; background replacement; day-for-night; dry-for-wet; and a host of other 2D issues.

Primary Responsibilities

· Perform any and all tasks as directed by the Compositing Lead and Visual Effects Supervisor

· Delivering final shots that are creatively and technically excellent

Direct Reports

· Visual Effects Supervisor(s)

· Compositing and Matte Painting Lead

Experience and Skills Necessary

· At least 2-3 years experience with a high-level film-based compositing system (most likely Shake)

· Good understanding of photography and film, and how the interactions of light, lenses and film emulsions go to make up the image

· Ability to take direction and structure working practice so that design changes can be efficiently made

· Desire to learn from others and to take on increasingly challenging shots

· Fully understands an “iteration intensive” shot pipeline

· Traditional painting and illustrating abilities are desirable
