PDI/DreamWorks Animation Seeks Technical Support (Render Wrangler)
Location: Redwood City, CA.
Company Job Title: Technical Resource Administrator (TRA)
TRA duties include monitoring and load balancing a distributed batch queue, assisting artists with errored jobs, and assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of the render farm. They monitor the I/O of data across various file systems and initiate data moves to allocate disk space. This includes processing archive and delete requests, monitoring the tape library and its servers, and preparing archived data for transfer to on site and off site storage facilities. Other responsibilities include retrieval of lost/deleted data, outsourcing via recordable media and/or FTP to partner companies, and responding to all support calls assigned to the department.
TRA main responsibilities:
Monitor the LSF render queue
* Troubleshoot, fix and rerun failed jobs.
* Monitor load performance on farm machines.
* Monitor primary and secondary queue servers.
* Monitor and troubleshoot farm machines
* Assist users with job submissions and failed jobs.
* Respond to all render related support calls.
* Work with production to forecast renders resources.
* Implement process and procedure to improve workflow.
Monitor Disk Space
* Monitor file systems and escalate all disk space problems.
* Work with production to forecast disk space needs.
* Request increase and decrease of volume size as required.
Archive/Delete
* Monitor daily server and host backups.
* Manage archiving/restore/retrieve requests.
* Manage offsite tape transport and storage.
* Manage requests for CD-R/DLT/FTP of data to partners.
*Requirement: Familiarity with Linux
Salary: $15.00/hr
Shift available: Graveyard – 11 p.m. – 7 a.m.
