Hey guys!

I've been working on this project, along with a business partner, for a long time now, and it's finally up and selling!

Here is the link:

I was responsible for the programming and sound design on this project, my business partner did all of the art and animation, and we hired someone to do the music for us.

Anywho, here is some art and higher resolution screenshots:

Cute game. Sound and Graphics are decent although the graphics are a little jagged. Fits in very well with alot of the other games in that genre.

Congratulations on getting something out there!

Congratulations, it's a neat little game.

I'm confused though. No offense, but is this really front-page material? :surprised

"It's not Tetris. It's not Columns"

Nice little game though with funny items but the graphics don't convince me

First off, congrats on completing this project! It feels great doesn't it?

Second, I have some major crits for the artwork. Primarily there is a huge lack of cohesion between the elements. You have basically 3 styles going on at once:

1 - Fakey anime style for the characters
2 - Clean icon style for the game pieces
3 - Boring text/simple pixel style for the remainder of the elements

Neither of these 3 approaches are particularly strong in their own right, and on top of that, by using all 3, you end up with something that looks VERY amateur. Things like that hard, aliased edge around the characters really stands out as "this is just some clipart we stuffed in here" (even if it isn't).

The strongest elements are the line drawings for the 2 main characters. If they had been colored with a better palette and with better shading then I think they would work pretty well. The same goes for the backgrounds.

The following elements are in my opinion not publishable and should be redone:
1 - The bad guy floating in the upper right
2 - The icons for the star/dynamite/weight items
3 - The title design
4 - All the in-game text (it is almost unreadable in some screens, plus its boring)

If I am missing something here PLEASE let me know; I am not trying to be rude, just honest. This looks like a 2-week project at most, with mainly placeholder art elements. Nearly everything needs to be either re-painted or completely redesigned. In the future, I recommend creating a detailed, full-screen mockup so that you can make some stylistic decisions about the text and the game elements so that everything looks like it exists in the same world.

Congratulations on the release, and I wish you the best of luck in the future!
