View Full Version : portfolio crit please (mostly gameArt)
florian 06-21-2006, 09:12 PM Yep. I uploaded my portfolio cookmysock.de (http://www.cookmysock.de/galleryselection.html)
Even if features like "resume" and infos about my work are still missing, there are already lots of pictures in my gallery.
Most of them are related to realtime3D so I allowed myself to post here.
Critiques about the way I present my stuff are very welcome. I'm pretty new to html, so If there are big navigation mistakes, feel free to give me some tips.
Currently I'm not really searching for a job. So I allowed myself to use some bad words here and there. Really don't want to offend someone.
cheers

The site looks nice considering its unfinished, although your guest book feature titled '****ings' confuses me a bit!

Ah, I remeber Andrey Delany. Such a great character and texture work to match.
You've got a class texture style, I love it.
Site's pretty nice and straightforward. Though the "****ings" section is interesting to say the least...

It's a very good website! Clean, Quick, no Flash ;), good overview and only great work. I like all your stuff but i love the knight and the pope :) Make a wallpaper of these characters please :-)

Whui! Nice to hear.
Most of my work is extremly colorfull so I thought that a simple white background would fit well.
Perhaps grey to highlight some things:shrug:
Flash would have been great if you use it carefully. Unfortunatly I have no idea how to do it.
The xxxxings-guestbook seems a bit of. The design is just not trashy enough to call it that way and people might think that they are just allowed to send xxxxings instead of "typicall" guestbook comments:sad:
I will have someone take a closer look at my website to translate my language into english.
@iLegacy: Danke. I will keep you updated about the wallpaper.
Thanks so far

i have to say its nicely designed but as portfolio it fails its job really, a portfolio is there to showcase your work and for example the guestbook shouldnt be there, especially since as an open input area you could get some stuff in there that would put an employer off.

I totally agree with you. Right now, it's more like a "privat" page with gallery. Mostly dedicated to other artist. There are in fact some things I shouldn't write if I was searching a job and for sure, I should keep an eye on what people are writing in my guestbook.
I always try to be a pleasent person to be with...so hopefully I get nice feedback :)
As far as I got everything working, it should be easy to make a simple and more serious version.
My experience working in the game industrie is that everyone has some kind of humor.
Anyway...I wouldn't bet on it.
I also heard about game companys that doesn't allow their employes to visit sites including words like xxxx or xxxxxxx.
Even fistxxxxxxx is not allowed. I don't know, if would like to work there:D
