I modelled her a few months ago for class as a Nurbs Patch except for her eyepatches were fillet blended to the head. In order to bind for the next months class i cut squares out of the face and patched in the eyes and then converted the whole thing to poly to get just 2 meshes. I had her bound but the hip joints were too high so o I unbound her and have been tweaking the model. And adding the ears, i'm doing that right now.

Ahah... there we are again with the faulty reference pic of Angelina Jolie's profile... Her forehead is outta control, man. The rest of it looks pretty good though-- post some more shots? Ortho side and front?

And heres a Shot of the wireframe. I've removed an edge loop or two and reworked the brow a tiny bit but this is still basically it.

This is going to wrap deform the poly proxy of the sub-d mesh so i can add more detail in Sub-d later.

Here's front and side ortho views. You're right about the ref pics. lol, it seems like everybody has tried using them. I'm reworking the forehead anyway to change a couple edgeloops so i'll have to slap another lattice on it to resize it anyway.

Heres some ortho shots of the head

Again any crits and comments would be appreciated

I definitely like the eyes and nose, but the corners of the mouth need work.. they should be nice and easy dimples, not stretched points. They're the hardest darn part of the face, I swear.

The problem with the profile pic is that, for one, it's a bit tilted forward, and the other even worse problem, is that she's rotated a bit towards the camera, so the bulge of her other eyebrow is showing. The front view you've got looks so good (love the jaw and the cheekbones, and eyes) I'm inclined to say don't mess with anything too much-- just keep in mind that the true vertical of someone's face is a line between the foremost portion of the brow and the foremost portion of the chin, which means your model has her head tipped down slightly. I would also recommend toning down the forehead even more, it sticks out much too far, where it should have a nice easy slope back to the top of the head. She looks great from the front, but from the side her skull is all shaped funny-- fill it out in the back, make it nice and round.

As for her body.. it's a little hard to tell much from this shot. It looks like her arms are too thin, and her whole lower body might be too small-- or it might be the perspective.

Thx for the crit on the head. I've been staring at it for so long that I can't tell whats wrong with it or not anymore, just that something doesn't look right. Now that you pointed it out though, I see all the stuff you mentioned. I'll try tweaking the forehead and see if I cant soften the corners of the mouth a little more.

Im not sure about the head being too big or not, I know in that picture the PaintFX hair is sticking out too far so it may be making the head look bigger. I'll post some ortho shots of the body soon. The arms are skinny, but jolie's arms are too, so I was trying to match that. I feel like Ive got a couple of body proportion issues that i just cant put my finger on, thats probably one of them.

Here's some ortho shots of the whole body. If anybody sees any proportions that look off, or anything else that stands out, please comment on it. http://home.earthlink.net/~jethro9001/images/sideviewsortho1.jpg

I just finished building the ear and i'll be attaching it today or tommorow and then I hope to be about done with the poly modelling

Did you use Angelina Jolie as ref?

Ahh.. her arms are too thin, her breasts hang too low, her feet are too small, and her knees are also too low. I also think maybe the distance between her crotch and where her navel would be is too short. Her height is pretty good though, if you're going for realistic proportions. Keep goin!:)

Thanks again for the crits on the proportions. I'll get to work on all those tweaks tonight. I agree with all the stuff you pointed out, except i stick by the height of the breasts. I'd post a pic of the model side by side with the Jolie pic I used to reference that area, but it would probably get deleted:eek:

Anyway, heres an updated wireframe. I reworked the eyebrows and removed a couple going around the mouth to make it less dense. This left me with a kind of awkward termination by the nostril. I really want this head to be able to deform well and generate facial expressions.

Updated

My first attempt at a human ear.

Again, I'm going for as photoreal a model as I can do right now, so anything that looks out of place or proportion, please point it out to me.

What? Did I hear someone ask for a wireframe shot of the ear?

No? well here's one anyway.

I looked through the various ear tutorials out there before i started it but i didnt follow any one in particular.

As always, any feedback is welcome

Another Update:

I've been reworking the legs to try and get rid of the Oscar Meyer Weiners look and give them more definition. I also bulked up the arms a little, maybe not enough though. I'm having trouble with the kneecaps, no matter what they don't seem to look right.

The skull looks to be too small in the back. Check out the classic Bridgeman's Drawing From Life book for tips on the depth and height proportions of the human head.
