Must be that time of year, everyone seems to be plugging their reels. Here's mine. I've kept it small for dial up users. It covers work I've done from 1999 to 2002.

Stuart Murray Showreel 2002 (www.stu-art.net.au/showreel320_240.avi) 7.8Mb Divx5.02 Avi
Stuart Murray Showreel 2002 (www.stu-art.net.au/Showreel320_240.mp4) 8Mb Quicktime .mp4

Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Very nicely done, greate content in modelling and animation (in particular the Dragon) the reel had good pace, quality work and was well assembled with appropriate sound track over the top.

very good overall. So somebody else uses Total Anniliation music in the anims :D

The dragon's back had some strange stretching/pinching as it stood up and flexed its wings. However, it is very good that you had that dragon moving instead of just sitting still, it brings it up a notch.

looks like some posts have been deleted from this thread. :( Oh well.

Thanks, Brianellebracht, they're volumetrics (in this case lightwave hypervoxels) just applied to a tunnel of points. Of course it took alot of tweaking etc and because my computer is rather sloooow I had to find the ballance between how they look and render speed. I'm still working on them though, so they'll probably look completely different by the time I've finished (especially if I have a new computer by then! :D)

Hey I'm AstroBoy!!! :bounce:

Really nice.:applause:

Is there special trails you use to get it to curve so nice or for the Dragon breath.

I'm new to MacMaya and looking for some nice particle flames.

AVTPro Thanks, I'm really glad you liked Astroboy, I can't wait for the movie to come out, and I'm toying with the idea of making more Astro animationg and sending it to Imageworks just for fun :bounce:

I don't really know what you mean by the special trails, or curves, but the smoke and fire were made in Lightwave using Hypervoxels. The smoke is just a simple celshaded turbulent noise I think, and the fire is a tweaked preset I got from one of the tutorials on making fire on the Newtek website.

Hi there!

Nice reel!

One question: which track from Total Annihilation are you using?

(sorry to only comments on the music and not the animations, but everyone else already said what needs to be said! ;))

Cheers,

Hmmm can't remember off the top of my head, I think the battle songs were tracks 11 through 14 on the cd... good soundtrack though, I could've used any of the songs off that game!

The film and the different styles look good! I don't know too much about animation, but maybe the dragons flight should get somehow smoother...

Dark Lotus Thanks!
Herjan I guess you mean when he's flying at the start, I agree I think he needs some movement, I'll probably have a look at it again when I actually release it as a teaser for my short film ;)

Thanks! Guess I'll have to get the CD, then!

Good luck with your future animation projects, this looks promising!
