View Full Version : Understanding UVW Unwrap

Hi guys,

Im a newbie so please bare with me, I've really been trying to get this into my head but im stuck at the moment, I've gotten very far thanks to Sadist for helping me out a heap.

I've put a basic html page with steps on what I do and how i get stuck

What you are doing in that step, is getting rid of stretching. As you move the vertexes around in that view, you will see that they affect the UVW coordinates in the viewport, altering the way the map fits on the mesh.

This is a very confusing step for everyone...so don't feel bad.

Try to get all the vertexes aligned properly with the map in the viewport, so that the checkers on the map are as square as possible.

After you do that, you can use a plugin called texporter to get that wireframe into photoshop.

There is more to this step than what I've said, as the topic could fill a small book, but that should anser your question.
