Your site mentions relocation...
What about relocation from Europe ;-)
Would you accept applicants from outside USA?

What type of software will you be using??
What are the positions like Jr, Sr
Any idea of salaries?? as I am working right now at a studio full time, and it is very stable, though florida and your project sound pretty exciting and could pull me away...thanks for any responses!!!

Software we are currently looking into. This will also be determined from what talent from the pool we can pull out.
Salaries start at around 40-55 for junior level spots, and go up from there based on experience. The actual titles for said spots are everything. TD's, modellers, animators, compositors, concept artists, et alia.

thanks for the response.. one thing you said earlier is you will work with out of the country applicants.. Recently some people from my studio have had a real difficult time getting visa's for the states.. even people with over 5 years experience who where going for senior positions.. do you see any difficulty in this area?? Is this due to the slower economy wanting to employ americans?? thanks!!!

I'd rather not start a debate on the subject of what the economy is doing, or why america has clamped down (obvious).
I will say that I will try my arse off to get anyone we want from abroad. I realize the current situation with the visas is bad, even getting one to work from the US in other countries is not so great, but we will toss ernest effort into that area if and when the time comes.

Can we send examples of our work to you by e-mail, that is the one you provided on your website: inforequest@onarom.com rather than VHS? I live in Australia and am an aspiring concept artist but I also have knowledge with 3D tools and was just wondering whether it is suitable for me to send examples of my work to you at the e-mail address you provided. I would appreciate a reply.
Thank You.

Well, you can send them, but we'll never see them. :)
The server trashes any attachments first off. The second thing is we have a limited amount of time we spend surfing each day. Basically I go here with my time, and read email as it comes in. So, downloading the so far 32 links we have received is unfortuneately just not going to happen.
I do reply to all those that send links asking them for hard copies, I hope that is not beyond the call, because it would be a shame to lose out, for us, on the overseas talent pool.
I would love to say if you are overseas go ahead and gimme those links, but until they say its ok to do, I just can not.

I was wondering about your timeframe for filling these postions. Are going to have a acceptance period with a deadline, then a review of all or are you hiring as you go? Thanks was wondering because I have to get everything together then down on VHS.
Thanks

Depends on where we want to fit the paticular person in the pipeline. Pre-production is basically slated to start end of feb, beginning of march. Anyone we need for that stage will of course get notified first. We already have some, so there is no real crunch.

Hello
I'm interested in applying for any concept art positions.
Is this one of the positions you may be able to work with
people via the internet?
of course I'm willing to relocate.
I have Industry experience with both storyboarding and concept
art though the scale was not feature film.
If you wish I shall send you a cd. and cv.
or you could see my attached image and let me know if this is the kind of material you want to see more of.(saves me postage and getting my hopes up)
Thanks.

Yes, we are willing to work with almost anyone over the net with the exception of the final compositing work.
I can not really make a decision based on the posted image, though it is very stylistic and pretty.
The only thing I can say is that in order to be considered people must show some effort as that indicates to us a motivation. We can not accept online portfolios or attachments in mail (those get blown away before I even see them).
So I suppose it is up to you guys if you want to send in something of the hardcopy variety.

Thanks for the reply.
The concept was to show you my style of work
and get an idea whether this was the kind of art you
are interested in seeing.
Motivation is not the issue.
Thanks for the compliments.
I will post you a cd and cv.
cheers.

Sorry for any delay in getting out some response. I am currently in the Carribean :) Grenada to be exact, scouting out location sites.
I should be back at the end of next week (Feb 6th) and have some answers to the quetion of hires. The guys back home are going through the tapes as I type (just got off the phone) and they have a list of about 30 candidates so far.
I will be cutting off the submissions around the 2nd week of feb. as we have more than enough entries. I do want to say in advance of seeing the rest of the submissions (caught about 10 before I left) how overwhelming it was. There is some really excellent, excellent talent on here. Way beyond what I expected.
Hope everyone is well and can hang a few more weeks, just the nature of the beast.
Thanks again to all who responded in kind.

I wanted to say that I thought it was cool that the guy hiring for these paid positions was taking the time out of his schedule to reply to all of us and to keep us informed of what's going on. This has to be the first time that I've experienced this with a potential employer. So, thanks for keeping up with the posts.

Hi,
I didn't see much on your website. Just a static page calling for portfolios.
It mentioned you have received a budget for your first feature length film.
What has your company done in the past? Shorts, commercials, television...?
Is there a place we can look to find out more about your company, it's history, past projects, etc.
I read in your post that you are scouting locations so I suppose it's a live action film with CGI.
It's seems a little odd for me to apply to a company I know nothing about. I don't mean to sound skeptical, but if I was one of the candidates willing to relocate for a job, I'd want to learn as much as I could about the company! Nobody else seemed to ask so I figured I would.
Thanks,
Slurry

Slurry, I sent a demo reel, mainly because it can do no harm to get your reel to anyone. But I also wanted to check up on the company also, but didn't come up with much.. I suspect that is because this may be their first endeavor.
It looks like there is an associatiion with a NWN game mod deveolper named "Joviex". Also, the site BWORKS is owned by the same person that started Onarom Films, "Alex Morano" http://www.bworks.com/bio.htm#alex (Alex's Bworks bio); thus the last name backwards = Onarom. I looked up the zipcode business district info for the cities around Zepherhills, but have not found a listing for the address listed on the website yet, but I haven't really had time to pursue this much either..
Like I said, I sent a reel hoping that everything is 100%, working in Florida has a great appeal to me, I'm already here :D
Slurry
02-02-2003, 08:20 PM
Doggjaww,
Thanks for the post. The bio information is at least something to go on.
I'm sure everything is 100% and as you said, it never hurts to get your reel out there.
It's just standard practice to research a company before applying and I couldn't find anything! So thanks for the URL.
I hope it works out for you guys! I doubt I'd be able to get something to tape and down to Florida in the next couple of weeks so I don't think I'll be applying. But good luck to the rest of you!
Cheers,
Slurry

Hey, wow, I am honored you guys did a background search on me. :)
This is in fact our first endeavor in the film market, thus the slight lack of information. The zipcode, 33544, is listed as Zepherhills, but we are in fact in wesley chapel, FL off state road 54. Since our town isn't incorporated and was once a part of Zepher :) I figure that one solved.
As for the registration :) We aren't registered within the state of florida, only as a foregin corporation working within the state.
The NWN game, gamedev.net, or any of my other personal hobby sites, vbdirectx.com, manadrain.com, matthewsseafood.com, etc etc.... basically stem from my programming days/work within my original corp. bworks.com, which is going into its eighth year as a website marketing company. My wife is the main proprieter there now.
Over the last year I have been out specing scripts, beating up potential investors, and running ragged pulling crew (grips, gaffers, DOP, etc etc) from all over the country to get our finally optioned and recently funded script put to film.
Only thing left for us was the CG section, from pre-post production. So, instead of farming it out, our original intention was to start a solid department with seriously minded individuals who wanted a nice platform to bulk up or break into the industry.
Myself, I have done a lot of programming. Everything from database's, minor games, and a few plugins over time (Maya and Lightwave mostly).
As you can see by the number of CG artists slots alone, we did get a substantial investment of funds for the script, so don't sweat the small stuff :)
And I do have to say thanks again, was very refreshing to see myself researched :) lol, prolly the first of many soon enough.

Alex, Hope you didn't mind, I wasn't prying or trying to dig up dirt.. I simply would want to have as much info as possible as we move along, (especially since we may be moving to work there) and all the info you presented on the net was easily searchable. I can understand a slim profile being new, and seeing your discussions in VB programming and game design was quite refreshing, actually.. I am systems support by occupation, and can appreciate knowing your way around MSDev, a router, wan or server.
Also, I emailed you about the audio problem on my VHS tape, the "complete" demo reel is on the CD in DiVX5. just wanted to make sure you were aware... :deal:

No problem.
Always good to see tech people make the switch. Strong computer skills is a good thing :)
Good deal on the reel. Looking forward to it. Hopefully have this madness sorted in the next couple weeks and get the ball a rolling.

Yes, you can of course send materials after the 15th. We will always be open to new talent to add to our services.
The current situation has already been resolved to our first round of selections, however, that does not mean everyone we ask will agree to a contract. So, by all means, send away.
Sorry for the late replies on everyone else's questions, bes thting to do is get me via email these days, as there is a lot going on at the moment.
Thanks to everyone. It has been a great success thus far.
