Hello everybody!

I just finished my latest animation. It's music video for the band called Poor Seamus. Here's some stills from it.

You can also view video here (http://www.poorseamus.com/videot.php) (Flash 8 video).

Production time for it was 'massive' 7-8 weeks (side by side with some other works...). It was basicly one man's project as I was responsible for pretty much everything; script, design, directing, modeling, rigging, animation, texturing, lighting & rendering, compositing, editing...

Tech specs: Softimage XSI, COREL Draw, Adobe Photoshop. Adobe After Effects and Sony VEGAS.

I'm now pretty much blind for it as only see some errors there and there but feel free to comment, criticize or ask questions about it.

Thanks in advance,
Sami

EDIT: New link for better quality video

I don't know why nobody has posted here before. I like it, and I like the music.

I like very much the game you play with the 3d - 2d. I fidn the story intereting, but the animatio nseems rather slow, though there is an excuse with the boy being bored and full of dreams and all that.

The only thing that bothered me a little is the repeated animation with the girl on the chorus...

But a very nice animation that worsk well with the song.

Thanks for reply! Yes animation could be improved a lot but I was fighting against time so had to move ahead quite rapidly to meet the deadline.

I fixed the video link for better quality video.

Cheers,
Sami

Great work man! I especially like the lighting and rendering. Which renderer did you use?
I think the only thing that could use some improvement is the flow of the storytelling. I get the feeling you had to stretch some scenes quite a bit to get the video long enough (which actually is quite understandable for a seven week - one man project).

Hyvä Sami!

Very true, good and valid points. Renderer was Mental Ray. I used only 2-5 area lights and it was then color corrected and tuned in post.

I respect you finish the video by yourself in 8 weeks.

Rendering/Lighting was great, but story flow was way too slow. The animation doesn't fit the rhythm of song, I believe you could do much better job if you had time to deal with the story telling and editing for the timing and camera work.

Good work! I like it!
