View Full Version : cloth won't stay put
snootch 06-19-2006, 08:04 PM i'm having with a piece of cloth i'm animating on a teddy bear that is being lowered on a table . the bear then gets up. when I do a local simulation the cloth relaxes fine and I stop it in it relaxes on the bear. The bear is animated so I have disabled the cloths solver at the first frame and enable it at the end of the timeline. then played it back on the timeline the cloth follows the table and reacts with the bear perfect. When I send the scene to another team member that is texturing the scene the cloth stops followin the bear and table. the cloth is frozen in mid air!

It sounds like you are loosing your cloth cache file. This is a separate file in the scenes folder of your project directory. You can re-link it under the cpCache tab in the Attribute editor.

i've relinked the mcc file but it wasn't in my scenes folder because I've been saving my maya scenes in a different folder. still freezes should I delete the cache and try to resimulate the cloth again?

Use a project directory only, for all projects in Maya. You shouldn't have to re-cache it, just re-link it in the attribute editor.
