hi there, so this is my first post here in the 2d artwork section. :D
i first draw the outlines of this plant that's standing in my room with a pencil. then scanned it and colored it in photoshop.(unfortunately with my mouse cause i yet did not have the money to buy myself a wacom, so it was a bit of pain in the ass. :( ). this is a project for school where everybody had to choose a topic that covers a part of his personal environment. so i decided to draw plants cause i got quite a few of 'em and cause i like to draw organic stuff. :) this is just the first of a few pics that i am going to paint. btw. i am the only one that makes use of the computer in this drawing class, first thought that i wouldn't be allowed to do so. :)
so what do you think? i am really totally not sure about the background, even dunno if i just leave the background plain white. and i thought about adding a bit of DOF, well any c&c would be greatly appreciated! :D

I really like the lower part of the plant, Very good, the upper part is a bit strange I think (maybe 'cause the leafs lack consistens). or maybe not enough contrast... don't really know

Actually I prefer the white background, If you do a background try something simple, with alot of DOF maybe...

Good start, continue :) !

(and yeah, that's really good for a mouse ! anyway there are selling some new wacom that are not very expensive. )

thx for you comment najd! :) i think i'll go for thw white background, too. as for the leaves, i was going for this translucent look. well i'll just experiment a bit with the contrast and maybe add a few smaller, brighter and more hardedged highlights. i just decided to search for a wacom on ebay and found a few. i think i am gonna buy the wacom intuos 1 or 2 , A 5 size. would this be a good decision and is the intuos 1 still good or should i go for the second intuos edition?
thx in advance! :D

Hi Wolpy!

Erst einmal...verdammt gute Arbeit!!!

In diesem Sinne

Cheerz:beer:

Genau! Wacom = Lebensfreude :D
Egal ob Intuos 1 oder 2, beide sind gut.
Viel Spaß damit!
