Races of Middle Earth- What a great subject for a challenge:thumbsup:

Well here is what I have come up with so far-

This creature is called the Maraki-avi. They come from old Elvish folklore. Said to lurk deep within the darkest regions of Fangorn Forest- these creatures are believed to be a cross between an Ent & an Elf but no one really knows for sure. They are rarely ever seen but have been in Elvish Tales since the history of the Elves began. They are said to be very wise & possess great magical powers. It is believed that they hold the power to control all trees & plant life throughout Middle Earth. No one has seen a Maraki-avi for hundreds of years, but according to Elvish legend they are immortal so there must be one out there.

Now I just hope I can finish this challenge!!!

Thanks Leigh- glad you like it. It lost alot of detail because I had to take a digital photo & I don't have a scanner- but you get the basic idea. Yeah I'll definately need the luck- the artists around here are off the hook!!! 3DF.

Nice feel and look to the creature. I know the textures and details are going to be fun on it.

3D Freak, thats awesome... May I ask what you used for the hair? the strands coming down.... is that geometry? Lofted splines etc??

I hope to see a body on him/it soon!!

That rocks, Freak :xtreme:
Kinda reminds me of what Iron Maidens Eddie would have looked like if he'd been a member of the Grateful Dead :p

It's interesting that you chose to do the mouth entirely with textures - is there any particular reason for that?

Thanks Leigh!!!:) No particular reason for the mouth to be a texture- I just wanted to see if I could pull it off. I'm not planing on animating this so I figured what the hell. 3DF.

That's the power of textures... without looking at wires i didn't notice the mouth and face details are painted, not modelled...
But it would look even better with all that modelled AND textured like that. Besides now You can't even open his mouth.
Great, waiting for more:thumbsup:

REally awsome look you have there....C you are a king in textureing...Mouth looks really good.

Ain't saying here that you got your inspiration form it but he really reminds me of the evil guy(the mumy one, leader of the bad guys) in the HEMAN TVseries....ain't sure if it was heaman...In my young age I used to watch it.
Wait a minute wasn't the from tundercats?<---probably is
