Ok...ive been working on a project for a few days now (as i only get a couple hours per day to work on it)

And im using a light in a emitter...however the particles are more ball like...and i want them to be soft, would i adjust the clipping? brightness? contrast? suggestions? Ive tried for a while...and i cant figure it out.

EDIT> what i mean is...more of a cloud than hard, outlined balls of light

if you have pyrocluster then use it..........if not i would adjust the size of the light first then the other parameters as needed

pyrocluster would take too long to render, i suggest making the actual balls of light less bright, and also make the visibility area larger...

Also, use some noise in the visibility channel.

And B.T.W., when you tweak the Pyro settings, you can get decent render times. I recently had a camera flying through some Pyro-clouds, and it worked fine. All depends on how detailed you want it to be, and I'm guessing that in this case the detail level can be pretty low.

Cheers,

yes i agree...re read the tips section of the pyrocluster manual greal effects are possible with out hight render times

lol, thanks claudio, but i went to your site months ago, thats how i know how to use lights in emitters :)

i have all your tuts, and might i add been waiting for more!

they are great and have helped me more than you know.

I dont have pyrocluster but i think i can manage. i messed with it last night, adding noise to the lights, and started to get them fuzzy

you could always use real balls with a frsnel in the alpha channel, possibly fused with some noise, use the same noise settings in the bump and fused with another noise in the dffusion channel, can achieve pretty decent results that can acutally cast shadows.

You will likely need to increase your ray depth in the rendersettings if there are any black edges or artifacts.

thank's my friend.
There's a reasons why I've not updated splashchallenge anymore but it's too long to explain.

I've published some tuts on splashboard but the board will die on 28.2.2003. I think I will build up a new site 75% c4d, 20% psd, 5% other with tuts and downloadable stuff this year but I'm waiting to be nice in modelling.

splashchallenge has gone from 60GB/months of transfer rate to 1GB(now)

sorry for the o.t.

claudio, dont give up doing what you do! you are a great resource. Those tutorials are such an imense help, they are easy to understand and help me to understand objects and functions i might normally use. Infact my current project started from your broken sphere/explosion tutorial (i didnt stick with it for long) but when i started thats what it was based on. I am so very gratefull for the time you have taken to share your knowledge with us.

Looking forward to your next project. I hope you post it here so we can all see it.

I will never stop............I'm quite active on bhodinut forum, because it's a slow forum and a tutorial or shaders to share stay in the first page for a long time.
BTW when I will build the new site I will send a post here for sure.

there is a plugin called burning which might help give you a bit of inspiration...dunno link though. i also like the idea of using sphere instead of lights.

kinda pointless now as everything on the bhodinut forums is gone :(

yes, I'm really sad

I've noticed you enter the cow crew kai!
The only problem there is the interface but anyway I will surf it daily.
Good Luck for your future there...

yeah joined the C4D crew as I will begin moderating another cow forum and with throrn leaving they said they got Jannis aboard but wanted on more to help take off the load and I was highly recommended/asked for, which was quite an honor especially since the cow unfortunately has been the forum I most often neglect, simply cause the format is awkward, new format options thuogh, make it a little easier.anyone want to see a pic of kai, drop in at the cow and there is a horrible one, used as a reference in the sketch on my avatar, so look at that you'll get the idea.

hmm... might still have some of my old presets etc that i uploaded there around... but none of the content unfortunately. and claudio you should have your stuff still... i'm sure if everyone grouped together we could create an SLB (Smells Like Bhodinut) thread here with all this stuff in it. then there'd still be a place poeple can go with their bhodinut texturing questions... maybe i should set up a mini board on my site for this stuff... although i'm slightly loave to do so, firstly i don't know how to make a board wher eyou can upload stuff securely, and secondly it does rather invite comments and critisism right where i might not want it :/
