View Full Version : UV texture not updating: Maya 7.0
Ollie_T 06-19-2006, 03:30 AM I am using Maya 7.0 and the UV unwrapping is going along well except for the fact that the texture is not updating on the mesh at all.
The material is assigned [otherwise the UVs wouldn't be in the UV editor- correct?] Anyway, even though the projections are working out in the UV Editor, I need them to show up on my mesh. Any suggestions what may be wrong? See image below.
Thank you.

Ermmmm... if you grab a UV point in the UV editor, and then find it in the viewport and move it around, what happens?

Hi Leigh, thanks for replying. As for what happens- nothing. Nothing at all. The texture does update whatsoever. I know the texture should be updating w. the new UV position, but that is not happening. I assume its something basic that I am unaware of, I just do not know what.

Hehe yeah then there is definitely something very wrong here.... hmmm. It's hard to guess at it without seeing the actual scene file, but are you sure you're working on the right UV set? There may be multiple UV sets on this model, which could possibly result in this...

Thanks for the suggestion, Leigh. That very well may be the case. I don't normally texture, so simple mistakes such as that can easily happen. How would I check to see if the UV set I am working on actually is the one on the mesh?
Thanks again! Much appreciated.

Glad to be of help, I hope you solve this one soon.
To find out which UV set you're working on, and if there are any others on the model, simply to go Image> UV Sets in the UV Texture Editor window. It is entirely possible that your texture may be applied in the shader using another existing UV set, which is why editing the other UV set wouldn't appear to be doing anything.
If all else fails, I'd recommend re-creating the UV map from scratch (which would suck, but sometimes it's the only option left).

Thats it!!! Thanks so much Leigh! I really appreciate your assistance. I am glad its something simple.
