So, far, I have not decided exactly what to make. I have about three possibilities. Here's what I've come up with so far...

no one has anything to say about my project? Mabye now you will have something to say, I have started work on the head and I have a small problem with the edge loops around the chin. Am I supposed to slice it some way so the edge loop follows the chin or is it supposed to be like this?

Hey, that's a good start. And yes, you're going to want to slice an edge loop diagonally across the jaw area. Here is a good reference: http://www.cg-art.i12.com/head-wires.jpg

You may actually be able to just push and pull your existing vertices though.

wow, someone actually saw my thread! Here's an update. I am working on constructing the rings around the mouth and eyes. I had a rvelation looking at some old ladies. The eye socket is why there are edge loops around the eyes! Its amazing to realize these things for your self rather than simply reading it in a forum. Thanks for those references, they look like exactly what I wanted!
Here's the image:

Here is probably my final entry. During this contest, I have descovered alot about modelling, mostly the hard way. I am pretty proud of my firstcontest attempt. I don't thinkI'll do much to this unless someone has some critisism I can fix before the contest is over. thanks for anyone who actually read this thread...

I can't see any of your pictures :cry:

All I can see are pics with FortuneCity written on them :surprised

That's odd, I can see all of the images... I really hate fortunecity, but the I cannot afford to pay for webspace and this is what Ive got for now. If anyone knows of some better space, Id be glad to check it out. It makes me nervous that Leigh actually said something in my thread. Its exciting to know that the Texturing Goddess actually found it necessary to post here. This image thing is a true riddle that needs to be solved, someone help me!

It's a bit tricky to give any crits on your render, not only because of the watermark, but also because of the fact that the head itself sits very small in the frame, making it difficult to really make out any details :sad:

The head itself seems to be a rather odd shape. I think that you need to add more edgeloops, so that you can shape the face better. You might also want to make it less humanlike - at the moment, it seems that you are heading very much in a humanoid direction. However, since you have not yet given us a backstory, I am not yet sure what sort of direction you are wanting to take this in anyway :shrug:

So give us a story, for a start.

I think that your model is very far from finished, so you really should leave the texturing for now. Rather concentrate on making the model perfect first - concentrating on one thing at a time is really important in order to create something properly :)

Just a comment about the textures though - they are far too low res ;)

Perhaps you could post a wireframe... It would be easier to crit your model that way :)

thanks for the crits... I now have something to work for. I thought I was finished and was getting lazy, but I must improve the best I can. As soon as I get back to school on Teusday, the fervent work begins.

:::::THE BACKSTORY::::

The vinyakanya are a race of shape shifters. They dwell in any area where they can remain hidden. They frequently take the form of mushrooms and other fungi because they are closely related to. The vinyakanya are rarely seen so many doubt their existance.
