If it is for beginners, cover the basics.
First, how all the tools work and what they do. Also explain the general photoshop interface.
Then layers, channels and layer masks. Most beginners have a hard time understanding the difference between a channel and a layer (I when I started on photoshop, I found this confusing). Explain image modes as part of this.
From there, I would go into the image/adjustments menu itens. Then you could cover adjustment layers, groups, and clipping groups. Then cover filters.
That should be enough for a start.
Good luck!

Definitely cover the 'non-destructive workflow' using masks and adjustment layers.
It was like discovering a whole new continent, at least to me, when I found out how this works.

15 what? 15 is a unit. This is an international forum, so you need to specify the currency. Just making a point here, it's not hard to guess what it will be.

You have a lot of competition in the English speaking market. I picked up a copy of the total training dvd for about $20 and that was 4 DVDs worth videos

topic include ( off the top of my head)
masking ( good section on that)
selections
transforms
layering
channels
brushes
erasers
combo mask and selections

I'm guessing my library were bulk ordering, plus there is the educational discount they would have got - you have to take into account.
As for the content I really support the part about the pen tool and how to use it. Its not something you can really learn how to use properly just by reading about it, so thats really usefull
Also if you dont have it already a large section on blending modes and advanced layer blending

@Alchemist101: Well if they are unloading anymore let me know, I'll take some :D.
As for the topic at hand. I agree the pen tool would be a good area to cover as well as blending. One area I am CLUELESS in is channels..I have no flippin clue how they work, I would love to see something on this.

...doesn't that make them bootlegs, or am I misunderstanding? Not that I really care, but comparing thehive's pricing to a bootlegged DVD is like comparing apples to oranges.

you have a point vaXn8d i shouldnt have to undercut because of bootleg videos but at the same time i was seeing i think digital tutors selling some pshop vides for like 25 buks

I wasnt comparing his prices to bootlegs. Read the post. I said that I got genuine dvds for $20 but you can get them cheaper on ebay, though at $10 for 4 dvds its probably gonna be a copies
