View Full Version : Need to create a universal firewire hard drive - help

Hi,

I need to transfer a bunch of data/frames, potentially between an Avid, a PC, and a Mac. I was thinking a 200GB external firewire (or maybe USB - more universal?) hard drive would be a good method to move this data around.

I'm guessing I'd have to format the drive for PC and then the Mac and Avid would be able to mount it (?). Anybody have any good methods for moving data between post houses/different facilities like this?

I'm using desktops, so I can't output/input to D-1, etc.

are these machines networked (or at least in the same room)?

No, different locations, different facilities. Miles apart. Unfortunately networking isn't an option - UNLESS it's a lot easier to bring a PC box from place to place. I could do that... but I want the fastest most convenient option.
