View Full Version : How to make fur
Forgiven 01-13-2003, 06:34 PM Hi, i'm using maya 4.5, and after several times trying to attach fur to a surface, i get no results.
So, i went back to a simple sphere to try this feature. I followed Maya's help tutorial, but no results are shown in rendered image.
Why? What am i doing wrong? I followed tutorial step by step, and i can't get either! Please help.

Are you running Maya Complete or Maya Unlimited?

I'm using Maya Unlimited.
BTW, i think Fur features are not available in Conmplete...

this is really simple, and probably not the problem. But if you aren't seeing any results in the render window, you may want to make sure that you have added lights to your scene. Fur isn't affected by the default lighting in maya like everything else. Hopefully that helps some.

If your using polygons you must have UV's on the surface that are in the 0-1 UV space and non overlapping. Also if your using multiUV's you have to make sure the fur is properly linked to the correct uv set(maya 4.5 only, maya 4.0 doesnt support multi uv's with fur).

APSAAUGA: Thx for your comment, but if you read the first post of this thread, you'll see that's what i've done! I followed maya's tutorial, the one of the simple poligonal sphere, but no fur at all in render...
BEAKER: Thx, i knew this about polys, but i've tried to use NURBS sphere too and the result is the same.
Why?
Any other idea??
