FINAL ENTRY

Hi all. Its high time to say my last words to 2nd Modeling challenge.

Today it was really exhausting. The last day in the morning I found in the thread that we are finishing today. For some reason I thought that the dateline is 16th. It was my big fault and I wasnt really happy. But now I can say I have completed most of that I wanted.

The tower, as you can see, isnt fully completed. There is no bottom part, the easist I can say.

STATISTICS

RENDERER - MAXWELL 1.2.2a
MESHES - 2.999
TRIS - 1.156.830
VERTICES - 624.305

TIME SPEND (not exactly but estimated)

5 hours - looking for references, preparation, correction of photos - levels, sharpening, estimating measures from photos
110 hours - modeling
6 hours - texturing, painting textures
6 hours - final touches, rendering

I wasnt able to deliver to this midnight more renders. Tommorow (exactly today) I wont be at home, I will spend all the day at the cottage because of some important issues, but later will post wires and more renders. Good night.

Here's a little more work done. I lost a day thanks to several thousand files getting accidentally deleted, so I didn't want to use the comp for anything until I finished "resurrecting" them.
Just thought I'd share more technical details in case anyone's interested.

Modeled in Lightwave 9.0 using a lot of LWCAD.
Currently 90,805 polygons
HDRI lightng
Rendertimes:
4m12s for distant shot

Wanted also to efine the model.

Post some final images by Friday even if they done in scanline render.
When I post the RESULTS thread you will get a special mention.
Your clock tower is a very good model and deserves to be seen.

I agree, chances are people are just too lazy to type. There might be a better turn-out if there was some sort of poll system where people could just click a radio button for a name or even better click one for a name + thumbnail.

@roberto
Even if the competition it's finished I ask roberto if i can modify the
thread in a way to put the perspective view as first view. even if my
model is not perfect I guess that front view and side view (even not textured one) are better than top view :)

First of all i would like to say that it was really fun to partecipate
the competition.
It's a fantastic way to learn about modelling and to exchange suggestion
with pro (ehy my work is chemistry not 3d :) ).
I would also like to congratulate to all partecipants and thanks CGTALK
and Roberto for this challenge.

Since I spent some time on modelling and tried to pay attention to the
details
I don't know if I can vote as a partecipant but this is MHO :)

heres my votes

Best Modeling-Name : Petr Dvorák (Sirpetr)
Best Detail Model-willohmsford (Phil Nolan )
Best Shading-Petr Dvorák (Sirpetr)
Best Rendering-Petr Dvorák (Sirpetr)
Most Realistic Model-Petr Dvorák (Sirpetr)

Just a note.. no one (included me) modelled with a lot of details the
heraldig on the front clock and also the Gargoiles seems not to be too
accurate in every post probably one of next challenge could be gargoile
challenge ;)
