nice modelling, even though, i think, the proportion of the face look more like an adult than a child. maybe you should shorten the nose a little bit and make it a bit smoother and 'child-like'

but on the other hand, nobody knows, how these fantasy-childs look like. i remember, in the 'neverending story' there are some creatures, who are old when they are born and young when they die... so keep on going! ;)

i think this could be a good model...u just have to make it more cildish....look at pictures of childerns faces and compare them to aldults....and pleeeeeaaaase loose the elvis :D

like it thou

ps. maby u should keep the hair cos it kinda gives him karisma

I think it is a pretty decent start on the face and yeah, like the other posters said, he looks like his mid-teens to me, not a child really. I had this problem drawing storyboards recently involving a 6 year old boy. I absolutely could not draw a character that looked younger than 13 until I studied some pixar characters and then took the advice of my teacher, refined my character, and came up with these three basic kid-face rules:
1) Big, round eyes which are flatter on the bottom and rounder on the top.
2) Pushed up noses, giving your kid a short, stubby, slightly pushed up nose will result in making him look much younger. A more round as opposed to pointy tip is also desirable.
3) The head is shaped like a fat bean, with the features on the face shifted abnormally to the bottom of the head.

It's tricky and requires a lot of trial and error, at least for me, but I hope these little things I have oh so recently learned myself can be of help to you.

thanks WhiteRabbit.obj for the ideas of what have to bee a children face.

When i was thinking in this character i was thinking in a 12 years fantastic boy it could be more teen than children but i dont think it when i was making the thread.

But instead of this the face need look less adult try to atemp to change it.

Nice work on sticking with the project til it came around. The face still feels a little old to me. The sharp chin and elongated nose bridge are the main factors in that for me. But this is a nice elven look, so if that's what you were after, then cool.

Technically there's some small things with the facial moprh targets. There's a few issues yet with the upper lip in some of your facial expression poses. There's this unnatrual lift to the middle part of the upper lip that feels off. It has a very sharp falloff of influence. Have a look at how you're putting together your morph target blends there. I think that perhaps the targets are too localized in their effect. Spread the influence for each target out some more, having it taper off to less influence the further away from the intended target area.
Another little thing, the mouth corners are traveling up OK on the smiles, but you could benefit from the mouth corners travelling back some more. And while we're here, take a look at thinning out the cheeks some when the jaw drops open.

It's coming along really well. A few little tweaks here and there and some more attention to details will help put this character's face rig over the top.

seria buenisimo que postearas algunas capturas de pantalla de tu setup facial... y que hablaras un poco de el...

si te parece adecuado empieza un nuevo thread en el foro de ch rigs...

FELICITACIONES!!!!

a lot of thanks for keith Lango for seeing my htread and giving me your apreciations.:applause:

you have reason with the thinks that you say
But the are no morph and targets i have to change the influence of the nidddle bone of the upperlips. The concept is the same.
Im going to retouch bones influences to arrive to a good rig and make a few more morphs.

hopes that the animation I´m doing will arrive to a god level

This weekend i think i could have more time to do that.

korben hear you have the rig

http://perso.wanadoo.es/calizp/rig.jpg

now I,m going to coment it a little

the principal ting that control the face are the bones and morph are done to arrive to especial expressions.

REMEMBER THE BONES DONT MOVE ONLY ROTATE THIS imitate the natural movement of the muscles of the face

the red bones are the principal bones to animate

with 5 bones you control the upper lip
with 5 bones you control de down lip

tree bones for the up part of the eyes

tree bones for the down part of the eyes

tree bones for the eyebrow

for every goup of bones y have a dummy that make move all at the same time with this i can make open and close mouth , eyes...

if i move a bone idenpenly i arrive to special pose of the lips and ....

One important think is that the teeth are linked to the mandibule

and you dont need to animate it beause when you open the mouth the teeth moves.

the configuration have a lot of more things: rotation points , controllers of the bones...

if people are interested i could done a tutorial

but it take me a lot of time and now i prefer to spent my free time animating the faces.
before i arrive to a god animation y could do that.

korben espero que esto te sirva ;)

si quieres dimelo y te pongo una traduccion en espaņol que me constara mucho menos espresarme.

I'm very impressed in how finally you finish the head. Really well done on textures and render. But overall, those poses work very nice. I'm another one interested on know the "making of" this rig.
It seems like it really works!

So I'm really waiting the animation and then... we ask you... the tutorial ;)

Hum... just a last comment... maybe those eyes have not the quality of the rest of the head. Maybe more real ones, light ones, but more real. I think they're a texture, no?

Ouch! another idea came to my head... what about the tongue? :p

Hexodam
02-23-2003, 04:29 AM
luigi,
when the tutorial will be finished you will probably be knighted with a cgtalk sticky on the frontpage and more..... that is if I would have anything to do with it ;)

Awesome work Luigi! I love the style of him. At first he wasn't looking to cool, but now he has this very original and neat look to him. He definatly has alot of charactor. I can't wait to see an animation! Interesting technique of animating the face, I've never seen a setup like that, but it definatly seems to work well :)

:hmm:

first test (http://perso.wanadoo.es/calizp/test.avi)

left botton of the mouse and save target as for save the file ;)

finally I have done the first test.it is not finished yet, ned a little more work in the mouth when speak and make secondary movements in hat and hair.
But i prefer to post something because this next week i have to do a lot of thinks.

the render is basic scaline and when you people say me what you think and make changes a make a render with correct lighting.

pabloz : I was thinking in make a tongue but it was a another think to animate, first I want that the face moves correctly later i probably make a togue.

I dont want to make realistics eyes I prefer this eyes dont want to arrive to hiperealistic eyes.

lerpiedood: thanks for the reply
give me your opinion about the animation

Hexodaman: next week i start make the tutorial in the nights i supose in one week it will be done

now is time to now what people think about the test.

:surprised

yeaaah a tutorial !! :applause:

video looks good, because its a test video I wont crit :P

Frinsklen
03-25-2003, 08:30 PM
yeah, looks good, nothing to crit on the model, solid, clean and very well designed. Good job.

Now for the animation: the main problem I see is that he doesn't move his jaw at all. Whenever he opens his mouth he keeps the corners closed and the center of the lips is what takes the shape. This makes the whole lipsync look too unrealistic. Take a look at your mouth when speaking in front of a mirror and check what your lips are actually doing.
There's also some wiggling and weird poses in the head especially at the end of the animation. I'm sure you've noticed, though, since this is a WIP. Keep working on it, this could end up looking awesome.

but where's the sound?

luigi

thanks frisklen the mouth and lypsic is very bad I do it in a free way , but you see in rangun thread you could see i have done correctly the phonems .

When i finish the other annimartion will make another with this character with sound and correct lypsic.

one question

i have seen your and lichiman web and the walk cycle

do you hade did it in kyle 3dmaster class?

im going to make the master class this year ;)

Frinsklen
03-26-2003, 11:41 AM
No, I didn't go to Kyle's masterclass. Lichiman did.

if you've decided to go this year, good luck with it, I'm sure it's worth it.
