Fantastic - loved every frame of it. Just read the article and watched the movie.
Would love to see a bigger version of the end product some time.
The look you guys have achieved is beautiful. My hat goes off to you all.

Really loved the style and animation. I love the stylised human models, and I really liked the entire style - the sorta drawn, 3d look. Really well done.

Love the style! I don't much care for the story, seemed a bit anti climatic and left alot to be explained, but none the less very fun to watch. Good stuff.

great style and effects, I liked the characters (they sort of reminded me of the stuff from Gorillaz). Definitely needs another, oh I dunno 45 mins to fill out the story - as it is it feels like you're dropped in the middle of an RPG.

fantastic, but is there any chance to see bigger version?

AndyH
06-17-2006, 09:32 AM
Gyahh! The video is tiny and the super bright advert to the right of it is huge in comparison.
I thought one of the benefits of being a CGs member was to remove adverts...

Very nice animation though.

The ArtWork, the character/set designs, the story is really cool, amazing work.
Good Animation and Vfx. and one of the Best Cartoon Style Render I have ever seen.

Hope see more of these and others projects in the future.

What software was used for this Masterpiece?

nunoalex
06-17-2006, 05:51 PM
It was all rigged and animated in maya, then Point Oven was used to transfer the animation into Lightwave where it was rendered.

Yeah, it's really cool. From what I read about this great piece of animation at the above link.
The reason that it seems kind of like being dropped in the middle, kinda confusing, and without an ending is because it's a promo\pilot that's been pitched to MTV for an ongoing series. So, that's how I'm judging it. Like the "free samples" they give at grocery stores.
Just enough of a taste to leave you wanting more. :applause:

Ummm yeh.... Somebody was reading Battle Angel and Battle Angel:Last Order and borrowed its style for this short... I am an avid Battle Angel reader and watching this short made me wretch... The female leads, the eye black, the boots, the weapons, the cyborg tech, the train, the landscape... If anybody liked the style of this short go read Battle Angel... because it it a pretty blatant copy... except the original has an awesome story...

If you don't believe me wait for James Cameron's Battle Angel feature that will be out soon to see the coincidental similarities... Give me originality with a story please! I don't want to see something thats already been done shamelessly repurposed in 3d......Thanks.

Wow...some people

I see your really trying hard to live up to the title in your name eh?

First of all I'm an avid otaku and this is not even close to being a blatant rip. I wont even go into why, but I'll say this.... your remarks are totally unfounded, unprofessionally bias and rude. I'd place my money with MTV's legal dept that there arent any infringements going on here.

And in regards to style, this is actually Ben's style. Back in the late 90's early 2000 he released a little clip called "Seven Suns". This is seems more like a jump off of that....which again showed this same style in 2D....wait...what were babbling about again?

Oh...yeah, the story.... Did you even read the article?....proably not.

.....dont hate.....appreciate.

Nice visual style but the animation seems rather rigid, even by anime standards.

I loved it. Awesome direction and visual style. By far one of the most visually exciting things I've seen in a very long time. It's so much more interesting than all the highend CG cinematics/special effects/feature animation in the recent years.

I like the design, but the actual animation leaves a lot to be desired - quite clumsy at times not living up to the slick design.

Seems like Gorillaz Lite to me. Gorillaz without the charm or slick execution.

I really like this piece. The visual style is amazing. Love it. For some reason it reminds me of Aeon Flux from MTV. I think it is the camera work that reminds me of that. Anyways, good work.
