hi aha nice! I love it. It is great to see that 3d is now expanding into what alot of 2d animation used to do. really getting the ideas flowing, trying out new things. I think the children will love it!

Too bad Steinbrenner has another vehicle to promote his lame team. But, coming from a Cubs fan, that's probably a common reaction.

Cynicism aside, it looks promising.

This looks like a nice project. Does anyone know what studio worked on it?

The studios that worked on this are REEL FX and IDT in toronto. Reel FX did around 60% of the lighting and compositing. and about 20 percent of the animation.

Actually I think it's the other way around. IDT Toronto (formerly DKP) started the project. ReelFX came on board to help them finish the movie mostly with lighting and compositing. Though ReelFX has a big chunk of the movie, it has been in production at DKP for at least a couple of years and the bulk of the animation work is being done up there AFAIK.

It looks pretty good in terms of animation and design, and I really like the period setting. Didn't like the pop song and the fart joke so much, and I'm not sure if I'm really down with the idea of talking baseball bats in the first place.

Well, in terms of that, the reason the movie is no longer called Yankee Irving is because the Yankees wouldn't allow IDT to use the Yankee name to market the movie.

But I think this movie looks great! Ever since I saw that first still...

Looks really well done. Too bad the story appeal is a little to short - not sure if baseball is that a popular theme anywhere outside the USA (but I believe the producers are aware of this, and are looking for a local audience only , so no problem).

yes i must agree with the above statement ,
also a hell of allot of cloth simulations was done in IDTE Toronto, a ridiculous amount of shots.
as well as all of the FX.

not sure of the exact numbers but i think Reelfx animated about 20 minutes or so and lit and rendered and comped about 40 minutes. But it is a DKP baby and has been from the beginning. Chris reeves worked with them before his death and rfx was brought in to help wrap it up.

Yea nobody plays baseball in Latin American countries or in Japan for that matter .

Agreed on all counts. Can we *please* stop putting fart jokes in CG films? Pretty please? I'm 100% convinced it's possible to write a good script without them.

The film itself looks nice though.

I think it's unfortunate that even as animated features are increasing in number and getting more and more sophisticated visually and artistically, in terms of taste and cultural value they seem to be heading down there with an Adam Sandler or a Wayans bros movie. It's a pity all the incredible talent that's out there isn't getting to work on more worthwhile projects.

It's also unfortunate to see potentially interesting films having obnoxious pop songs and scat humour apparently forced on them.
