View Full Version : Photorealistic Renders
paulselhi 06-16-2006, 03:26 PM I have started a few sections for this at http://www.black-and-white-to-color.com/ipbsfx/index.php?showforum=102
The idea is that i have invited phtographers to submit their works including details of the camera and lighting settings, members then try to recrate the scenes
If you are interested in playing then do remember to state your renderer/app, settings, times etc
The idea is for us all to learn from each other
Should give the maxwellians something to get their teeth into !!

Great Idea:) Sad to see that you haven't had the greatest of resposes though:sad:
I have just started do pretty much the same thing. I have spent te past few days looking through a host of interior design mags trying to fnd some good images to copy, like you have said on your other sites purely as an experiment to see how close I could get to the photo.
It would be nice to get some photographers onboard so we wouldn't have have to worry about copyright etc and I think it would serve as a good starting point to realy learn something from others.
Lets hope you get a bit more interest as think its a great idea.

Especially for the unbiased renderers that take into account all the camera settings, if the photographers could add these it would be very useful

Does it have to be black-and-white (http://black-and-white/)? Anyway here's a super-macro I took a while ago that didn't have much color in it to begin with. I always wanted to try and recreate it with blender, but never did. It's a simple scene with no direct light.

I will get working on my version later today
No the images don't have to be B/W, in fact color will add to the interest. The B/W thing is due to the fact that i host my forum on my BlackMagic site

Wow, that last yafray render (done by eightythree) is very close to the original. I wonder how indigo would do with that scene.

This is totally OFF TOPIC, but whatever !!
Scorpius, I´m so glad to see you here !! You are the man!!
(For those that don't remember, Scorpious was the one who first developed the Blender-Python Input/Output swite. Many of those import export options now in Blender where born from that swite)

Thanks. And this is even more off-topic (and even less known-about):
I also developed some Wings IO plugins -- lwo, raw, stl, slp. Not to mention a few primitive plugins -- geodome, gear, knot, ncube, plane. However, the official wings-developers are reluctant to include them in the official release, which makes me less inclined to write more. But they are available for download on my web site.

Thanks for the feedback.
It a shame we haven't had more enteries from other memebers.
I could have made it even closer to the original photo if I had paid more ettention to some of the reflections and the lighting on the back wall, but I didn't wnat to spent too much time on this one.
I am having a lok at indigo as I speak to see what it can do.
Anyway thanks again
