This is my first post and contest, hope you all enjoy...

The Ehrathel
Known to only the oldest of the races of Middle Earth, the Ehrathel dwell in vast cities in the clouds. Although you could never tell from their appearance, the Ehrathel are of very distance relation to elves. Besides the obvious addition of wings, their ears and skull are optimised for flight and their eyes have some very strange characteristics. The eyes are multi-lensed and do not close, they are self-contained as the outer lens acts as a windsheild.
The pursuit of knowlege about weather and the heavens dominate the focus of the Ehrathel. This peaceful winged race have long lived in seclusion and rarely consort with other races. In the first age percieving the danger represented by Morgorath, the Ehrathel purchased several mithril armor suits which were light enough for the soaring race. These armor suits are still worn to this day by the Ehrathel Sentries who protect the cities from the occasional winged beast attack. The only race to maintain relations with the Ehrathel are the eagles, although a select few of the Maiar (Gandalf and Radagast) have been known to visit from time to time, accompanyed by the eagles of course.
