View Full Version : Sunlight Through a Window..What Do You Use ?

I don't mean area light portals, i mean the actual sunlight. What is the preferred method ?

Infinite light with hard shadows ?

Distant area light with area shadows ? what size area light what shape ?

Omni ?

I look at max tecniques and they often seem to use a parallel spot with a very large radius

I thed to use an infinite light with hard shadows, is this the best method ?

The best method IMO is infinite light with area shadows.

I tend to use infinite with hard shadows and an area light just outside the window with a lower power set to simulate the bounce from what is outside the window but unseen.

Hey guys,

I use R8.5. There isn't INFINITE lights, correct? What would be the equivalent?

The best method IMO is infinite light with area shadows.

I use this too. Although for animations I use raytraced (hard) shadows or spots with shadowmaps.
