ok, this has been done on 5 different machines......

I create a Polygon Cube...with just the 6 sides.... I select two adjoining faces.... and go to Edit Polygon Extract....and in the Extract options I RESET them...and click apply...

Now, On ONE of the 5 machines.... the 2 faces I selected are "Seperated" from the Cube...so I now have 2 objects.... a 4 faced object and a 2 faced object...

Thats what I wanted..... I wanted to be able to select Some Faces on a project and Seperate them from the rest of the model ....... In Nurbs it's easy...

But... in this case... On the other 4 machines... when I do the exact same thing... The Two Faces I selected to extract....are extracted.... BUT... the 2 faces are extracted as seperate items.. So, I get 3 objects.... a 4 Face Object and 2 single face objects...
This then causes me to use Polygon Combine to then put those 2 faces together..... which is what I wanted..but without having to then combine...

but as I said, on one machine it always seperated the 2 faces as One Object from the cube....which saves me from then having to combine them.....

On 1 machine it works like I like it....

can anyone try this little test... just rest the Extract options and try to extract two adjoining faces from a cube....see if you then get 2 or 3 objects...

this is bugging me..

thanks!

Hi,
this is not a bug.
You simply activated an option called Keep Faces Together in the 4 other machines.
When it is activated, maya will keep the selected faces in one single object, when it's not it will seperate them in different objects.
So before you extract faces, go to Modeling mode and in Polygons>Tool Options>Keep Faces Together.
That's it !
Note that it does the same thing when extruding faces.

Bye.
