whenever i want to composite my render , with an AO pass in Photoshop (with the multiply mode), it works fine till i play wuith transparancy of the "AO multiplied layer":

i always get these strage stripes:

Now i konow that i could just brighten up the AO pass (without multiplying it), but i loose to much details.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Never seen that issue before, sorry.

As a temp workaround, duplicate your occlusion layer & brighten that instead. You can also use a mask to localize the brightness/contrast.

I've had this happen before with screen and multiply, but I can't recall what I did to fix it (this was several years ago). Can you post a lite/cropped version of your .psd to test?

I don't know where that artifact is coming from, sorry. Now i konow that i could just brighten up the AO pass (without multiplying it), but i loose to much details. You can brighten without losing the details with Levels or Curves. Just pull the black point up to a gray value, and don't move the white point. In Levels, it's the black slider at the very bottom, not the slider on the histogram.

I remember getting something like this before, and there was some kind of fix for it, I'll check around and see if I can find it.

Edit:

I found this thread: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=148512

But unfortunitly the picture that told the settings isn't up there anymore
I think it was something to do with the colourspace or something. Maybe ask the person who posted that if they still have the settings.
