Hi!

Can you please explain me or point me to a tutorial to make such an
animated gif faking the selection effect. Long time ago I rememebr it
was quite easy to find a tutorial to do taht, now I need it for an
animation project, and I jsut don't understand how do you that :)

I could be mistaken about this, but the dancing ants have always appeared to be diagonal white and black stripes masked to the border of your selection. The animated gif you showed was only 3-4 frames that looped, so I would say the easiest way to make this animation would be to print-screen your 3 or 4 frames and assemble them in the right order. Or you could make a pattern that is white and black diagonal lines, and fill a 1px stroke with that pattern. Move the pattern up and down to make your frames. Hope this helps
