View Full Version : my machine is not friendily with .iff
azloha 06-11-2006, 07:11 PM i rendered out some iff files. but some of the files was set to be only opened by "window picture and fax viewer". is there anyway to turn it back to "non specific" file type?
my after effect cant import them into the sequence.

That is weird that After Effects cant import an iff sequence. I always render out of Maya into iff's and then take it into After Effects and do my editing before rendering that out into a MOV or TGA sequence.
However, you can view the images using FCheck. You can find it in your C:\Program Files ... \Alias\Maya\bin
Open fcheck.exe and then use it to open a single frame or your image sequence.

If your rendering out of mental ray, then there is a known bug with after effects importing .iff files. You have to open the animation in fcheck and save out the files as .iff and it will write a sequence that is readable by after effects. All other .iff files should import ok. As far as windows opening with fcheck, in explorer go to tools > folder options > file types tab and find .iff in the list. You can edit the program that opens .iff's from there. If you delete the file association altogether, then next time you right click on an .iff you can pick the program that opens it.
