Hi, i completed the wip model located at :
It`s another model for the cg short movie "Code Guardian" by Marco Spitoni www.cee-gee.net (http://www.cee-gee.net) , made in Max 4.2, scanline render.
Thanks to everybody in this board who supported me with precious suggestions.

yea thats the stuff. brilliant modelling and texturing job. realy. nothing to critique on that. lighting seems maybe slightly off but thats probably cos its not sitting in a scene. weathered look is there but any feel of shiny metal has completely gone. u no? anyway, model and texture a dead guy.... on the roof of the car.... bleeding.... please..... :buttrock:

I love the ammount of detail you have put in it.
Considering the corners should be more scraches and that the roof is barely touched.

Looks fantastic! Lots of detail! :love: There's only thing I would like to mention is that maybe the roof should look more weathered... also, the front looks a bit too clean.. just my opinion, other's opinion may differ :)

Fantastic work! I really like the texturing. In my opinion texturing is the most difficult job. I suppose you're using photoshop or something similar? Are you working with your mouse only or do you use a graph tablet?

Fantastic job, very very nice piece of work! If I had to nitpick, the rust on the front bumper looks a little flat, and not random enough....... but I'm just jealous!:drool: :) :beer:

i'm just worried about one thing - how is the door supposed to get opend if the hinges are positioned in such an angle. Other than that, just perfect.

It is very nice but the texture does not have the shininess of metal. And since no environment is reflected on it it is diffcult to judge.

The weathering on the paint job is not convincing
The paint peelings on the edges of the door don't belong there...paint peelings and scratches should only be in protruding places of the vehicles body where it is most likely to come into contact with an abrasive object.
The wear on the edges of the bumper,mudguard and base of the door are most realistic
Cool work though!!

Eklettica, I just saw your webpage, I'm very impressed with your work. Excelent stuff, I love the ambulence!
Excelent eye for detail, I'll be on of your groupies any day ;)
nice but the one thing i have to say is:
one side is all beat up and the other isnt....
but very nice model....almost thought those where refernce pics or something :drool:

Vehicles don't normally float my boat, but this is an excellent piece off work.
May I ask how long this piece took to model and texture? Very impressive. I would like to see it situated in a setting now.

About the shininess and environment of the metal i partially agree with the crits, maybe it could be increased a bit, but consider that military paints are not so reflective for obvious reasons.

It's been a while since I posted but this one I just culd not leave alone. :)
Other than what has been mentioned I have some coments.
Since I've worked somewhat in the automotive industry I've noticed that the fittings between the door anc chassi, between the hud (or bonnet) and chassi are too tight. I don't think there was such a good fit on war-vehicles of that era.
I also think that if it´s that worn down it should have some more bumps and damage to it.
I'd also add som abbrations around the two hooks in the rear, the radiator-cap, above the windscreen since the text is worn but not the paint (or smear the text more) and finally the rear view mirrors look a bit too clean.
However, some parts gets replaced and they would be in much better contition, maybee the mirrors are replaced? :)
Well that's about it. Damn nice!

The weathering is pretty nice, but unrealistic to me. The wear patterns seem to be in inappropriate places; like on the front of the door. What rubs there during exit and entry?
The other thing that spoils it for me is the metal color. What is this truck made of? Silver, Aluminum? No... steel. Steel will surface rust overnight in some conditions. So it appears to me that all this wear took place all at once and very recently. A few specks of silvery metal would look better on the places that receive continual wear, the rest should be oxidized.
Matte finishes on WWII vehicles faded rapidly in the sun. Especially the olive drab you've used. I'd suggest fading the paint on all of the upwards facing surfaces to add even more realism.
However... I'm unsure of the intended use of this model ,so if it's not in a "hero" shot and is used as a background element, then the high-contrast weathering is probably exactly what you want.

EXCELLENT SMITHERS!!!! Great model and have enjoyed watching it's progress. The onlt thing that I think you might want to take into consideration is that the crosses(especially the top) should be bleached out due to the sun. Other than that, AWESOME...:thumbsup:
Truly excellent work here! I think you should twist the bolts in the hub, so that they differ a bit. Nitpicking, but that was the first thing I noticed except the beautiful texturing of course. Those little details you know. Otherwise, stunning!

I didn't like it at all... the textures lack vivid colors and the details are disappointing to say the least .......................

Is there a scene attached to it? Any animation?
You could use real live videos of old wars and plant the ambulance there... it would be cool! :)
