View Full Version : how to assign video to a light source?
vortexrage 06-10-2006, 04:57 PM hi everyone, I'm working on my first project in cinema 4d for school and in one of the scenes i have a character watching tv in the dark.... now I wanted to project the light from the tv forward onto the character, and I can't seem to find a solution to do this with the lights, does anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance :)

Put a material with the video in the transparency channel on the light. It will work just like a real video projector.

You will also be helped by this script by Per-Anders.
Copy it into a COFFEE tag (and save the tag for later use)

tks, you're star! :)
Make sure you set your texture tag to flat projection. The script is only useful for tiled textures, I assume in this case you won't want it to be tiled so to align and size the projection uncheck "Tile" in your texture tag and use the texture axis tool in conjunction with the move and scale tools. If you want to see some beams projected from the light source set visible light to volumetric and play with the settings on the visibility tab.

That isn't entirely so. Set projection to Spherical and it works as it should.
