here's what ive been working on for the last day or so:

its an analog modelling synthesizer, so far this is just the front panel, I have yet to model the rest of the body, or keys (not to mention the wheels on the panel). any constructive crits are welcome.

it looks good, but the LCD looks like it's offset upwards out of the body rather than into the body, also it doesn't appear to have that offset from the background that LCD's have to have, so it looks a little like a sticker rather than actually being 3d. everything else looks cool though, the lighting could do with being a little less even.

For starters, DIM THE YELLOW!!!! :surprised

A big problem with this is that it is impossible to tell what substances these different parts are made of. Plastic? Metal? You need to make that more apparent, because looking at this now, it's not at all obvious what this stuff is made of, and that should be the first task of the texture artist - to show to viewer what something is made of.

The little switches (the grey ones) are very dull. Add some spec/ref to them.

The LCD should have some luminosity. Also, in the LCD, the displayed text usually appears to have a drop shadow behind it, for some reason (I have no idea how LCDs work, but they usually cast shadows, or appear to). So add those.

And add some grubbiness! I'm not suggesting that you make it filthy, but think about how this object is used, and make some markings on it to show that use. For instance, at the base of each knob, the surface (the yellow surface) is bound to become slightly grubby from peoples fingers dragging along it in a circular motion around the base.
