Well it's time to give a concept drawing... and a small story
about The Crell Tribe

The Crell are living between EASTFOLD and ANORIEN deep into the FIRIEN Forest but they are spotted also in the DRUADAN Forest.
They always move at night and sleep or hide during the day 'cuase of a great sensitivity in daylight(too much cofee, yes coffee exists in Middle Earth!!!).
They are always on great stress not to lose their personal stone which is attached in their forehead after the age of ten. They are very clever and fast and they are not to much interested in wealth but in knowledge, martial arts and history (Although they are deadly warriors and many roumors are saying that they are killing someone ..just for trying to speak to the Crells).
They have watched all the great wars in the middle earth and they are secretly taking the part of the little hobbit 'cuase they hope he will share with them his experience with the ring ..if he survives it!!!!

Already some nice details in,and with some more added later it will have a good amount of that all important extra details. I have just gotten into Maya 4.5 unlimited,I am planning on using it alongside Max 5,a powerful combo.It's too bad Maya Fur or Paint FX is not allowed with this challenge,I think they have great potential.But it's the modeling and idea/concept they are looking for.

It's a nice start from that simple box for the body,I'll keep an eye out for your progress,I like where you are headed.:thumbsup: :beer:

I'm surprised you've not gotten many replies. There are a whole lot of entries this month, though, so I guess it's easy for them to get hidden amongst the rest. :)

It's really coming along great! The only thing that bugs me is the snout. It seems quite straight and rigid compared to the rest of it.

I really like that weapon and the skirt (kilt? ;) ) texture looks real cool!

First of all, proportions.
his chest looks to big, his legs to short, his feet far to small and I got a feeling his arms will be to short aswell.
His abdomen just look wrong and a bit boxy.

Those 'cuts' in his chestmuscles look weird too.
Since he's human, head excluded, I think you need to tune it more to human proportions.
Nice texturing, by the way.

I was under the impression of something going really wrong about legs and feet but i couldn't see what.
About chest , i must say that i over did it there...maybe i should take down a little bit it's volume.
About his abdomen, it is just a test in making the double muscle count than in a human but as it shows the experiment failed (it doesn't give the impression of a diferent muscle structure), so i will make the correct anatomy there...

You can make the ribs much longer - there's plenty of space there ;)
as for legs, there's something with their length: knee is placed too low (don't know how to say it ... thighs are to longs, this part below the knee is too short:hmm: hope this makes sense)

Feet are much better now, though they need to be a bit broader to support his mass. Also thicken the toes up, cause there's no way he'll be able to move effectively in battle with skinny toes :)

The torso is looking better but the ribs are too low and not back far enough... take a look at your own or the pic below and see where that protrudes. Keep going man :thumbsup:

Great model. No, really.

My critque is (you're not gonna like this), I don't think it fits with LOTR.

I don't know, something about the head. I always envisoned Tolkien's world filled with gritty charcaters, and your character isn't....gritty enough :shrug:
