The picture below is of King Ayudh. He is in the middle of a hunt and as ritual demands is free of any hinderance except his hunting bow. I havent solidified his background yet, but he is from a planet where the sentient life-forms have emerged from rodents- like rabbits perhaps.

They are highly advanced. His civilization understands the genetic code on an intuitive level. They can smell changes in TNA (treoxiribonucleic acid) and have developed ways to develop droids and other server appliances from harvested meat and plants.

For most of his reign Ayudh has depended on the Keeper to carry him through his wars to protect his people and advance his kingdom. However he has recently started straying from the ways of God- I have not figured out what kinds of things he does wrong. (This is where the "Gods and Demons" fits in) So God uses Evrahem in the kingdom to deliver justice.

Evrahem is a droid who serves in the palace of Ayudh. He is the personal servant of Ayudhs daughter, Samar, and was geneered to be a perfect servant. All droids in the kingdom follow something like Asimovs rules of robotics.

"1) Servant- never shalt thou harm a Master though action or inaction.
2) Servant- ever shall thou obey a Master if no Master is harmed by obeying
3) Servant- protect thyself as long as no Master is harmed or disobeyed.

I think it will make an interesting look into the mind of an angel- if Evrahem is called to be an avenging angel of God, and his own three commandments are conflicting with the higher call.

Anyway this is a WIP. Ill be thinking out this story as the month progresses. I think I will spend the first week working on 2D stuff and flesh out the background story- evolution of rabbits etc:, before I progress to 3D. Tell me what you think
:wip:

:D Yeah I guess he does look like a giant koala bear. I am working on making him look sleeker, yet still with a bit of girth on him. Ill post some more sketches tomorrow

I am trying to imagine the off-world in my head; so thats why I've sketched the primitive ancestors of my characters. Hopefully this will make for a solid character and the world he is in. More sketches later on today.

I am redoing the character of the king. I am trying to develop it so that he has a familial resemblance to the woruk (shown below). Hopefully there will be something more to comment on when I finish sketching the King. The droid character, will be based on that of the king- perhaps simplified or ornamental.

These are some ideas for the supporting cast. How children might look etc:-

I didnt like the way that Ayudh was shaping out. He was bipedal- basically a human with an Anubis head stuck on. So I thought about it and modified it so that

1) His bones are completely under his control. He can grow them out to be weapons, utensils, or state regalia. The king is denoted by the crown of horns that grows from his skull. Only the king can grow and retain the crown. At the point in time that the king crown crumbles, the people know it is time to find a new king.

2) The same goes for the hair, although this is more easy to manipulate. Children are often giant hairballs, when adolescence hits. The pattern of the fur is caused by the season and personality of the person.

3) His legs are more animal like. He can now gallop on all fours to travel. When this happens, his fingers retract, and and he travels on the pads of his feet and hands.

Thanx Sheep Factory, :D I was worried for sometime that he/she/it wouldnt be interesting. That put my mind somewhat at ease. Im really itching to get started with 3D. Ill probably get cracking early tomorrow morning.

I started working on the mesh for the head. There has got to be a quicker way to do this. I am working my nurbs to the bone. If anyone has any tips on how to do this, I am open to suggestions.:p

I was trying to construct the model using skinning spline curves. This was problematic because I couldnt create a smooth surface. Since then I have modified primitives. That seems to get the best results in my workflow.
This is the first figure that I am modeling in 3D. So I would appreciate some help . What would be a good way to blend the limbs to the torso.

I started using a log to actually see what I was doing:annoyed: I realized that I was going waay too slow. I think that it sped me up today at least.

any way this is what I worked on last night and this morning. Tell me what you guys think.

Very cool. I like how you explained the anatomic traits and evolution, etc. The back is great. The only suggestion I have so far is maybe the lower legs below the quadriceps maybe are a little large in comparison the the rest of the torso, although I'm sure running and jumping is his strength. Keep up the good work.

I took your advice and looked at the size of the lower limb in contrast to the quads. I made them a little thinner in profile. I also work at defining the limbs and calves.

I think that I will block out the hands and arms after work today.

This is looking great so far. Your concept work is great, I'd like to see this character developed into a 2D piece as well (ever thought of doing comics?).

I would put a little more definition around the pecs, and maybe lower the top of his chest slightly, I get that you're going for a strong powerful stance, but I think it detracts from the head a little. Also, maybe some more details in the head (scar? whiskers?) just to give it that extra bit of interest, something to throw off the symmetry.

Keep it up, this is fantastic if it's your first 3D model.

Puddlefish-I will have to qualify that- when I said that this was my first model- I meant that this was my first character model, and the first model in Maya.:p I have a degree in industrial design- so the way of thinking while modeling is different. You can have a look at some of my work at http://parel.freeservers.com

That said- this is the most complicated model I've done and the first time that I have used blends and fillets to model. Thats what I did today...wahaay- the blends did not turn out half bad- akward, yes- but Im kinda proud of them.
