View Full Version : CTRL + Click = Select Layer instead of Group
ZUZ3L 06-09-2006, 09:03 AM In PSCS2 when you make a group with some layers, and afterwards CTRL + clicks on a layer in the Group, you will select the entire group, instead of the layer you were trying to get... This is a new thing, since CS2 came... Can I change the setting back, some how, to select the layer...? I know you can right-click, and then select the layers name... but I like to ctrl-click... much faster... :)
Can you help me with this one?

You're talking about ctrl+clicking on the canvas, correct? This isn't new to CS2... IIRC, this was introduced at the same time as layer sets. Not sure of a way to disable it, but if it makes you feel any better this has always bugged me too

The options are on the top bar: Auto Select Layer/Auto select group - these will bring it back to the way you like it.

With the Move tool -
- Alt+Right-click selects the Layer under the cursor (not the group)
- Right-click displays a menu, so if you have a group with a layer, you can choose either the group or the layer. They're nicely indented as well, so you can instantly tell between a group & what a layer.
With any other tool, add Ctrl to the above key combinations to get the same results without having to switch to the Move tool, i.e Ctrl+Alt+Right click & Ctrl+Right click.
