O.k., I've read up on this issue, but I still don't get it.

Lets say that I have multiple cameras, and I want to switch from one to the other. My understanding was that you lock the one you want, and when ready, unlock it and lock the other. But that doesn't work. I still see out of the same camera.

What is it I am missing?

Select the camera you want to use and hit ctrl-0. That should do it. Note that the 0 is the one of numpad, not the one above your letter keys unless you are using laptop and "Emulate Numpad" option.

If you want to change the camera during an animation, you can use script such as "Camera Changer" for that. This script should be found in the Script Window below Animation.

Another technique to do multiple cameras when rendering is to use Scenes and the Sequence editor.

You set up your scene, and your first camera. Then, you create a new scene using the original as a "Set". Add a new camera, and set it up for this scene. Repeat for as many cameras as you like.

Then, in the Sequence editor, you add all of your scenes. This will allow you to easily cut back and forth between different camera views in a NLE fashion, even blending and fading between different views.

When you have it as you want it, make sure you use the "Do Sequence" button in the render buttons!

Thanks.
That *kinda* does it. If I hit 7 and look down on the scene, select camera B and hit ctrl-0, I will still pop in to camera A view. However, when in camera A view and then select camera B, then hitting ctrl-0 will take me to that camera.

maybe a little offtopic but suppose you were to use a laptop. How would you zoom to a selected region? (numpad ". DEL" button?) with and without numpad emulation?

With a mouse you can scroll the MMB if you don't have a scroll wheel then hold down the contol button and the MMB, move the mouse and you will zoom in and out.

Other buttons to use with the scroll wheel

Shift & Scroll wheel = Window moves vertically
Ctrl & Scroll Wheel = Window move horizontally

RE Cameras: Any object can be a camera by selecting the object and pressing Ctrl -0

So if you want to see a view from your characters eyes, select an eye and press Ctrl-0

Yes room 335 I'm well aware of that, it's basic navigation, the ".DEL" numpad button however automatically zooms to the selected region, so you don't have to keep scrolling and scrolling. It's a very usefull feature, and I was wondering where else to acces it aside from this shortcut. I've allready found it by the way, space>view>view selected. A shortcut works faster, so if you're on a laptop and don't have the numpad, what then?

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop. There is a function key marked Fn in purple, also on the right section of the keyboard there are keys marked in purple to match the numpad including the period key. So maybe your laptop has a similar approach.

Other than that I'm not sure. There used to be a shortcut chart over at Blender.org or Elysiun so you might try searching them or Google.

Heheh I don't have a laptop but I'm thinking about buying one that's all. I do want blender to work flawlessly on it though. And some games like doom3 or hl2 for instance. So I was just curious. Thanks for the info though, maybe it will be a dell.
