Hi, I recently moved office and shifted my small network with me [all windows xp]. My router was acting as my DHCP server and doling out IP's happily to my machines. I have a gigabit switch and all lan connecitons are gigabit.
Since moving office I no longer have a router, and have had to go back to manually setting ip addresses on each machine. Trouble is now every machine that connects to the 'server' [an XP box - no actual server software] occasionly just hangs on the network, usually for aobut ten seconds. This is driving me crazy, and more importantly preventing me from doing anything with AFX as it breaks the minute the workstation loses its network connection.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this? I can't get a router just yet as I'm waiting for an interent connection to be installed...
Any help would be much appreciated, this is causing me major grief.
All the best,
Jules
